So, in order to help my Uncle out of a tight spot, we've recently acquired a Bengal tiger. He's a handsome fellow, but he's gone right off his food for the last three weeks. We don't like bringing live game into the house (the last herd of impala we brought home made a terrible mess of the Persian rug) so we usually feed him quinoa salad, spelt muffins and kale, but recently he won't even eat that.
I feel so terribly sad, looking at him staring dolefully at his healthy bowl of vegan fare, so does anyone have any advice?
Add Italian dressing - the eggs in the Caesar dressing you tried on his quinoa salad a couple weeks back probably was viewed as a horrific attack on his lifestyle
I can see from your user name you are more of a dog person so you are behind the 8 ball from the start with a cat, albeit a big one.
Any cat person worth their weight in furballs will tell you, cats won't eat quinoa without tofu mixed in, preferably with some sitar music playing in the background at loud volume (sitar - India - Bengal) makes them feel at home. Occasionally you will need to give it a decent feed of red meat, the best way is to get one of your mates to dob you into Billag once a month, when they come around for the inspection send them to the cellar with Hello Kitty and 2 problems solved at once.
God invented the basketball to help tigers thru the teething phase. The older leather ones work better, but aren't strictly vegan. The newer artificial ones have a larger carbon footprint. Carbon offsets make a great Valentine's gift.
I sympathise with you. Assimilation into Swiss culture does take time, especially for large carnivores. Ours went through exactly the same tricky phase. But try not to worry - it is just a phase that he's going through. In a few months you'll look back and wonder what all the fuss was about!
