Software-Where to buy&download Office for Mac,home&student,english edition-2011?

56k modem now that brings back memories

I can't believe what I'm reading.

Are people here seriously recommending you install a copy of Microsoft office downloaded from something called "mega upload" ? Really? Or even "simply download a version off a torrent site" ?

I guess the security of your computer means nothing to you, you're willing to effectively give a random person on the internet administrator rights to your personal computer and all its files?

Crikey. If you need Microsoft software, buy it from the store. If you want to support OpenOffice, which I find to be excellent, then do so. But downloading pirated / cracked / who-knows-how-modified versions of commercial software and then installing it is just asking for trouble (imho).

hear hear neddie, quite right ! ! !

That's crazy talk. Everyone knows that software pirates are lovable rogues, who are obviously good and decent and trustworthy because they're taking on and undermining evil corporate empires.

I downloaded the PC student edition of Office from microsoft, without problem. What you do, is buy the Swiss student edition, then you can download the English version, use the key of the Swiss student edition, and away you go. Of course, it might be different for mac users.

Funny thing. The Swiss edition has proofing tools for French, German, Italian and English. While I'm a fan and user of OpenOffice, the proofing tools of MSOffice are far in advance.

For the record - English editions of Office for Mac 2011 can be bought at Data Quest AG (Bahnhofplatz) and Orrel Fussli (main one, off Banhofstrasse, opp Coop in side alley). Roughly - you get one license (149 CHF) for the price you can get three licenses in other countries / websites...

OpenOffice.org does work and is legal, but if you need more functionality the real deal, with upgrades, new web functionality etc is probably what you need.

cheers

Consider Technet Standard at 331 francs for the first year. Before everyone starts to suggest that using all that MS software at home is a breach of the licence terms, it's not - they deliberately vague and really only forbid use of the licences in business and school production environments. I have ....... Office 2010 Proplus, Windows 7, Windows 2008 Server and more running from my subscription. Oh and I have Office 2011 for Mac too
