Sonatec - water conditioning system

Does anyone have any experience of a water conditioning system employed by the firm Sonatec, based in Lucens, VD? ( http://www.sonatec.ch/ch/index681a.html?id=1 )

We're looking at their system for our about-to-start build and although it looks and sounds promising; no power source required, no need to use salt to soften the water etc, I'm a little skeptical of their claims and not familiar with the technology or the science behind it. In short, they claim that by passing the water supply through a series of magnets, the magnetic field can alter the electrostatic properties of the calcium carbonate colloid particles, so that are less likely to accumulate as calk. The technology is based on the concept of Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD).

My question is; are their claims robust and the technology sound? They have performed studies with EPFL and won a gold medal at the 2014 Geneva international inventor's convention, but it's not my field of expertise, so I was wondering the inorganic chemists and physicists amongst you might be able to help me out.
