Spanish shop or restaurant (Basel)

Is there any shop in Basel that sells spanish food? Like ColaCao or chorizo... I miss them... And, does anyone knows a good spanish restaurant in Basel?

Thanks!

There is a Spanish Store at the Brausebad stop of tram 1 (if I am not mistaken) they carry a lot of things also Mexican and Latin American, might be a good idea to check it out, I love the store they even have the best tortilla chips

I was going to tell about this one!

Thats a good place and there is a new spanish resto in St Louis next to the police station. Not tried it but goot be worth a go. Also tapas at markthalle

That's also the one I was going to suggest. I think it's called Comestibles la Espanola (no doubt with various accents added at random), at the corner of Spalenring and Thannerstrasse.

There is also a very popular tapas bar called El Pincho just off of the Johaniterbrucke to the Gross Basel side, never been there but Spanish acquaintances of mine say it is great. Also one near or in the Badischer Banhof but I do not know the name of that one

Thanks a lot to everybody! Tears were running over my face when I looked for these stores in google streetview. Aaah! I can't wait to go there today!

I understand, enjoy!

Also check out Migros and Coop. They have surprisingly many Spanish staple-products like tuna in oliveoil, canned peppers, olives etc. The best olive oil is the Migros and Coop "cheap" brand in a green plastic bottle.

The Spanish Store mentioned above has a variety of genuine Spanish products and also Spanish booze - Jerez brandy - and spanish cooking equipment like paella pans.

There is a guy doing a nice paella at the St Louis public market on Saturdays, although he may have stopped with the end of summer nearing.

There is a Mexican food store - El Sol - over in Alschwil that has far less variety than the Spanish Food store but does have bulk Latin American items, notably tortilla chips & frijole negros. It also has salsa verde and a few slightly upmarket brands of tequila.

'La Española' carries a lot of Spanish brands (Cola Cao, Cacaolat, Borges, etc.) but the prices are absolutely ridiculous if you compare them to what you would pay in Spain (most of the times double.) As someone suggested, sometimes you can find similar products at Migros or Coop, even if it's not the brand you are looking for.

As for Pincho, I was there last year. The tapas are ok (nothing spectacular, at least not for Spaniar,) but again, the prices are incredible. I payed 8 euros last year for, literally, four big grilled mashrooms (setas asadas.)

The best is to load your suicase every time you go home. That's what I do at least

Good to see another Catalan in the forum!

That's a very good option indeed. On the other hand I've set the rule for any friend coming to see me to bring something like chorizo, salchichón or colacao if the want to sleep in a bed...

I'm also very happy to meet a fellow contrywoman (I don't really know if that's the correct english way to say it, but well, you understand me )

Does anyone know of any Spanish grocery stores in Zurich?

Does anyone know of a Spanish food store in Geneva or Lausanne?

Well, for all the Spanish community... I don't know about you but I have been waiting for something like this for years... thanks God the ship to Switzerland!!!

http://embutishop.com/

No more getting flights to bring the "embutido" in my suitcase

Amazing shop! Nevertheless the shipping price is way too expensive: 25 € for less that 2Kg of embutido. It's is free for an order of more than 150 €, though, so I guess that it only makes sense if there is quite a lot of people sharing the same order.

there is a tapas near marketplatz, flow the way beside coopcity up to the hill, i forgot the name of the place,i will never try it again,it taste totally different than i have had the tapas in Spain. it taste like frozen food.

I have also heard bad things about this place
