Spoofed cold callers?

It seems we've been getting call centre calls since yesterday, but the number displayed comes up on whitepages.ch as a real individual.

Anyone else encountered this?

Yes. https://www.englishforum.ch/tv-inter...ntre-scam.html

Because of this caller number spoofing, we now suppress the ringing for all numbers not in our directory. Such calls simply land (after about 30 seconds) on the combox. No spammer has ever left a message ( at least not yet).

I must up my search skills!

I seem to have had more of them since Christmas, and even if they do speak a little English, they don't understand my accent so hang up. I'm more concerned about the recent repeated facebook friend requests from prostitutes in Zurich. I always want to reply, "Do yourself a favour luv and put some bloody clothes on. You must be freezing!"

I just route all landline calls now to the answering machine. if a message is left, I get an email notification.

Getting annoyed with callers from Lituania and Slovakia and Montenegro and of course the usuals out of Nigeria, they call, one or two rings and then nothing, I do have a prepaid but all the same it ́s annoying when you have ten or twelve calls.

Yes. I have at least 2 a day. A Swiss number comes up and it shows the name of the person. And its all real. Of course the person on the other end is not that person and is from India most likely. I always pick it up and just listen.

As soon as I hear that its the background noise of a call centre or an "

english voice " saying "goodmorning sir" then I hang up.

Best is to do a " Lenny " on them

I had one from a neighbour whose number is in our phone.

I was in a bar in Glasgow one night, sitting a table drinking with friends.. Two ladies came in wearing short fur jackets, hot pants and thigh high boots. They walked over and one handed me a little card advertising the lap dancing club along the street.

She told me to bring the card and the first private dance would be free.. Cool I said, "are you one of the performers?" "Yes" she smiled.. I handed the card back to her and said "thanks, i won't bother then."

She threw a drink over me and stormed out.. Much to the hilarity of everybody around.

How do you do that?

A second rate solution at the most

With this custom made solution. The picture includes the spam over the last few days.

You built that yourself? Neat.

I let all house-calls of numbers I don't know go to the answering-machine. If there is no message, I check it and - most times - add it to my call-blocker . Once they are in there, the phones don't ring anymore either.

It takes one more step compared to your solution but as I've had it for years now, it has become comfortably quiet here

Or Swisscom blocker

. . . which is OK if the spammer does not spoof a new number on each call.

yes right. Swisscom has no answer to that at the moment

in the USA they have this-just a money making stupidity

I've had the same thing in both cases - more calls to my phone this year and daily friend requests on Facebook from ladies in my area with 2-3 photos in their account, usually with a fair amount of cleavage on display.

I notice this increasing now. Spammers are making spam calls but faking numbers. I now received a few calls from random people ‘returning’ my calls.

I’ve got a few calls with a “Private” caller’s ID. Needless to say, I never take these calls.
In fact, I rarely take calls from unknown numbers.

That’s an old scam I think. I never knew what’s the catch there 'cause I always hang up.
