Sports sunglasses w/RX inserts?

Hullo....going nuts looking for a pair of sports glasses for the upcoming MTB season.

What is affecting my search is that I need RX inserts (I am missing about 8.5 diopters in each eye), and the glasses should be, if possible, of the "wraparound" type. Like those Oakleys, if you know what I mean.

Last year I had a pair of Adidas sunglasses - BUT

the front lens curvature was such, that the RX glasses didn't function correctly as the lenses were too angled back... I was seeing in "monoscopy" resulting in a reduced depth of field and other problems.

Contact lenses? Been there, tried that. My eyes water too much, and just a little bit of dust will have me clawing at my eyebulbs A bloody nuisance (or PITA, if you prefer).

Does anyone know of a brand / model that could possibly work with all these constraints?

Thank you!!

Ciao

Paul

My wife wears oakley prescription sunglasses- q expensive, but worth it and she wears them a lot.

Most oakleys are available with RX lenses (+2 to -4 combined power, whatever that means) e.g. http://en-ch.oakley.com/products/6214/22486

I don't think that will help the OP since he is -8.5 in both eyes.

@ Paul, if you can find a good one, I would be very interested. My eyesight is as poor as yours (actually, slightly worse )

A US website. They say this model is good for +/- 10.

Wraparound with an elastic to keep the glasses on your head.

Yeah - had seen those but +2 really doesn't help me a lot :-/

Thank you anyway,

Paul

Found a pair of Rudy Project glasses *designed* to accomodate up to a +10 correction...

Huzzah!

Hope you take some spares, 'cos I'm guessing that if you break them out and about, you could end up walking off a cliff without realising it until it is too late...

Let me tell you something - I'm so myopic (spl?) that I never go *anywhere* without 2 pairs of glasses. Me and them, we're like sides of the same medal

When I tumbled last year and lost my Adidas sunglasses I reached for my spares, rode myself down the mountain, found a ride back home and checked myself in at the local hospital.

I just wanted to suggest RP...

BUT, dont order it from US, as I know it is a European brand...
