Hallo,
I am a B Permit holder from India working in IT sector in Zurich. I am currently looking for business oppurtunities here in Swiss and have done a bit of search. I did search the forum(quite few posts) to know the rules for starting or atleast trying to do a business from here to India and vice-versa - say Export / Import. I shall be attending quite a few exhibitions, seminars in next couple of weeks to gather, improve knowledge on best oppurtunity for me.
My Question:
1. As a B permit holder, Can I try for Business oppurunity - though my permit is limited to work for only IT company which processed my Visa.
2. Is it a better idea to get more details regaring this with Govt agencies where I can get more info?
3. Is it illegal to try anything when u r on B permit ? I am not going to be directly involved, but can be considered as a middlemen , agent etc working for some business house in India. However, the permit allows or not is a question.
Just to mention, I am not thinking of anything related to IT - its other than that IT which I am looking for...
All Suggestions, ideas, info are welcome and appreciate your responses. Thanks in advance.
Regards..
Welcome to the forum.
Can't help you much about the business possibility on your existing B permit, but the name of the land is Switzerland and try to refrain from txtspeak please ( ur / your ).
I think it is a good idea to gain some info from governmental institutions or at least their websites. Some kantonal WiFö`s (Wirtschafts Förderung) might be helpful.
Under swiss law, in the vast majority of cases the employment contract requires the employee to obtain the employer’s approval in advance. The consent will normally be given if the employee does not compete against the employer in his second activity and if the employee’s performance does not suffer .
Absent a contrary agreement, the employee is basically free to assume additional occupations in his off-time . However, he violates his duty of good faith (art. 321a of the Swiss Code of Obligations) if the second job reaches an extent that it reduces the employee’s performance and the employee is therefore unable to fully attend to his work-duty. If the employee earns money from a competing occupation, this is called moonlighting (Schwarzarbeit), which normally constitutes a cause for instant dismissal .
Hallo Jrspet,
Thanks. I shall take care hereon.
Sviz - I found the search for Zurich from the words you had mentioned and it was quite useful. I had found some other sites from the lead you had given. Thanks again.
Amaras - Yes I agree. My contract says I should not do anything which is similar(for my case in IT) and nothing I should do to take away business from the client I am working for(I will not be since it is breach of trust & spoils my Image in long term). One of the reason for me to try for business other than IT. So I think this should not be a problem, but still will make sure I am not in conflict with any rules of my employer. Thank you for your useful comments.
Have a good day.
Regards.

Check the conditions of your permit - you really don't want to be in breach of that. As I understand it, and I'm not an immigration lawyer , for non-EU residents, you can only work for the company that is listed on your permit, and you may not perform any other economic activity within Switzerland.
No.
You mean better than asking the EF crowd?
Of course.
You already said your permit does not allow it .
oh Ok. Good Info. Lots of hindrances...Agreed and I have to recheck my Permit. May be I shall try to get a bit of more info in my Kreis Buro - if they can be of any help. Thanks. However I can still attend the seminars, Exhibitions conducted in Geneva, Zurich, Basel - right ? That is open to all...and who knows from there I can find some options. It is Illegal If I start anything or work or try to earn, but I hope it is not illegal to attend exhibitions, adivce someone who may be interested based on Ideas I may get.
Thanks Again,
Patakas.
