Hi
We've been using Milton sterilising tablets to sterilise baby bottles but we've now run out. Is it possible to get them in Swiss chemists or is there a local equivalent.
Thanks in advance for your help.
You can get them in France -- definitely in Carrefour or Champion.
They do not seem to sell them in Switzerland. I stock up loads in the UK when I am there.
We used the microwave steamer which cut out the need for sterilising tablets. Just wash the bottles well with ordinary detergent using a bottle brush, rinse well and pop them in the microwave steamer with 200 ml water and Bob's your Uncle.
Used it for dummies, teething rings and whatnot and never had any upset baby bellies due to sterilisation issues.
When he turned 12 months we just bunged the bottles in the dishwasher and got rid of the steamer.
Never seen those tablets or bottles of Milton here. I use to put mind in a large saucepan with water with a tablespoon of vinegar and boil for 5-10 minutes - clears the air in the kitchen too.
A quick web search suggests that boiling water is indeed the way the Swiss parents sterilise, sorry.
I can highly recommend the Avent Microwave steriliser, worked very well and bottles from other makes fit in as well.
You don't need to sterilise the bottles in CH. It is enough to clean then with normal dishwashing detergent. Or put them in the dishwasher.
I would in any case advice against using the tablets. We were using them when our son was a baby and he later on developed an intolerance to clorine. Could be a coincidence of course but you never know.
Hello! I remember looking all over for Milton tablets when I was using them for my son. They don't sell them here. I always used to get them from the UK. But as another reply in this thread said, you can buy them in Carrefour in France - I have seen them in the Mulhouse Carrefour (but they are more expensive).
