I hadn’t noticed that they had waived the 100ml rule.
All airport security is theatre.
A few airports did, but seems they’ve stopped it again due to technical problems with the equipment.
I believe the technical problems are with the EU not understanding what the machines actually do.
When I flew back from Edinburgh in July I had hand luggage only and it was great not having the bother of getting liquids out, I feel a bit anxious if there are a lot of people at security although we have EasyJet plus for flights with them and get fast tracked.
2 weeks ago we flew to Sofia from Baden Baden as we were going to a friend’s wedding. We couldn’t be bothered with the liquids rule, so we bunged everything in the case that was checked in and hoped for the best it turned up at the other end as the flight was Ryanair 
OH had a really bad experience with Ryanair in the very late 90s on a business trip coming back to London Stansted from Brescia in Italy and swore he’d never fly with them again. Unfortunately the only other option to Sofia was from the Euro Airport with the even more dire sounding Wizzair, landing at 2am on the morning of the wedding. Others in our party ended up going Zurich to Vienna then transferring on to another flight to Sofia.
