Strangest side effect

Looking at the side effects of my medication, I saw this strange one:

  • false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts

WTAF?!

Out of curiosity, what are they giving you???

And does it at least help?

Sounds like an ad for Fox news

You now believe the earth is flat?

Seriously, couldn’t they just have used the phrase you may suffer delusions instead? Sounds like a bad translation.

This is Pregabalin. They prescribed it to treat nerve pain.

This is information in the patient information leaflet, so it should be simple and easy to understand for the lay person.

However it is not a MedDRA (Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities) term which is far more technical since it’s designed for health care professionals.

So, it may mess with the formation of new memories.

Not this specific drug, but I can remember elder relatives that forgot someone died several years ago, or that a tree in the garden is not there anymore…stuff like that.

Usage must be very common in the US in particular then. Could explain a lot…

They have to list every possible contraindication, though, no matter how unlikely. There are loads of scary side effects of paracetamol, cough syrup, Imodium, etc, if you read the packaging but it comes down to the likelihood of a reaction.

In your case, if you start having a reaction check with the doctor but get him to give you “alternative-facts”. I think that’s how it works with fact-resistant people.

Yeah, what a relief we finally know what’s going on over there. Take it off the market! At least until the inauguration of Harris (or anyone not-Trump).

@Phil_MCR have you experienced those side-effects yet? Ask you family and friends as you wouldn’t know

The main effects I have are extreme tiredness and sleepiness. I’m sleeping a lot and still tired.

That could also just be the body’s reaction. Mine functions like that and because I’m a lucky person and can always sleep no matter what so I tend to “sleep myself healthy”, needing less pain-med. in the process.

I know, others can’t sleep due to the pain, not even at night and that must be real tough.
I don’t know if you’re expected to work - probably but if not . just sleep whenever your body wants you to.

Unfortunately, I started work again on Monday after taking a few days off last week.

If you are still quite heavily medicated, can´t you ask a GP/doctor to give you a sick note?

Sounds like an apt description for a number of posters on Englishforum / Swissforum.

Are we all on Pregabalin?

Sounds a bit strange, are you sure you didn’t just imagine it?
