I have a Karcher 5.55 that my neighbor borrowed. Now it only hums and the high pressure does not come on. I looked online and it says it may be that a capacitor needs to be replaced. In order to look I have to take off the high pressure hose. I have followed instructions but it seems stuck. Is there a button I need to press to get it off? Does anyone have one that has an idea how to get the high pressure hose off? Any help is very appreciated. thank you in advance
I know this forum is considered the font of all earthly knowledge, but that is a very specific problem with a very specific piece of kit, and as such that question is probably better directed at Karcher's service department.
That said, I've been surprised before, so If anybody does know then please take the floor.
I agree it is not the answer man forum but it is Sunday and my husband is away and I wanted to see if I could get it working. Thank you for the link. It is the other end that goes it the machine I can not figure out but I do not want to bother anyone.
Being serious now; have you connected the hose to water supply and turned the black knob on the machine and then pressed in the leaver on high pressure hose.
Yes the water is connected, and the machine is on but it just hums. The pressure does not build like it used to. when I depress the handle on the nozzle for high pressure, water just comes out at the same force as from the hose. No pressure. I ran the water through it as it said on line to check that there was no air bubbles in it but that did not do anything to change it.
The neighbor said it worked fine for him. He used it for 20 minutes cleaned his terrace and no problems. Then he brought it over, and set it up for me, as I wanted to clean my terrace, and it just hummed. Then he said I must have done something to break it.
Is there a recommended place in geneva area to do repair on Karcher? I list the 2 I see if anyone has had experience with them
There are lots of Youtube videos on how to fix those things. I only know because I bought one last week and became sidetracked doing some research. Not sure what you mean "remove the high pressure hose" One end screws on and the other has a big plastic circlip that holds the spray attachment on. Or do you mean inside?
It is indeed written in the law of each Commune/Gemeinde- but farmers are exceptions as said above. Just depends on your community too- Catholic areas take this much more seriously, and so do the ones in Central CH, as a rough guide.
Here, we only have 3 direct neighbours- we all sometimes mow the lawn on Sunday- but we just use commons sense. If I see they are having a party, BBQ or any kind of visitors- we don't. And vice-versa. We are retired, so generally we try to avoid making machine noise on Sundays- but sometimes weather of other commitments means it it the most convenient.
Just look at the map re the Grippen vote- and it will give you a pretty good idea of where the strict Sunday rules are prevalent (as said, a rough guide )
I have spent the day looking at You tube. It could be an easy fix, but I have to open the case or at least run the machine without the high pressure hose on the machine. It is a screw in design I have unscrewed it but it does not pull off the machine. I do not know if there is some trick to get it off such as is it a bayonette attachment that I have to twist and pull after unscrewing or some other option. My husband bought this is switzerland, and I thought there might be other people with the same machine. http://karcher-irk.ru/d/19777/d/7556_555jubilee.pdf
Thank you for your kind post. It has been a bad day.
When I removed the hose from my new one it was really tight. It felt like it was going to break but I knew it was only screwed so used a cloth to get a good grip. According to that PDF it's the same.
I found this dead thread when looking for an answer on how to disconnect the high pressure hose from a Karcher K5 pressure washer.
The black connector at the machine end has an arrow on each side. You have to push the connector down in the direction of the arrow to remove the hose. If anyone is having trouble moving that black connector in the direction of the arrow, make sure the machine is switched off and give the trigger a squeeze. The hose stores high pressure water inside. You need to let this out for the disconnect mechanism to work. The last bit of water will squirt out, and you can move the connector.
