Wondering how I can make better use of my place without upsetting the neighbourhood with a monstrous roof extension, and whether a subterranean one would work,

Since I have a big basement that I don’t really use. Yes, I know digging holes in Switzerland is very expensive.

Has anyone done that? Could you recommend an Architect to advise? An engineer?

Do I need the neighbours to sign it off, even if it’s underground in my garden, avoiding the edges, which you have to give a 3m clearance to?

You could ask your Gemeinde what they think about it? That way you don’t spend any money for eventually nothing.

The good thing is that after you submit this, everybody at the Gemeinde will know your name and you’re „that guy“ :grin:

I had a dispute with the neighbour last lasted over two years, they already know me as that guy :slight_smile: Talked to Ai about who was very helpful.

I suspect it will be cheaper to buy a bigger place and move :wink:
