Sugar and dementia: is there a connection?

Noticed this in the news tody and thought it was interesting.

Had only recently been watching this video by a British A&E doctor, Dr Alex Wibberley, who posts videos on how to maintain/improve one’s health. He says that one shouldn’t dismiss slowly rising blood sugar year-on-year as just something to accept with ageing and nothing to worry about. He says that sugar has a negative impact on brain health and that Alzheimer’s is referred to by some in the medical profession as “type 3 diabetes”.

Is this something to keep in mind for the next life?

Well, that’s me OK…Mum made all my foods as bossybaby, with fresh veggies, dairy, fish, and meats. We were not allowed any surplus sugar/sweeties. I was so sugar-starved that one day when I was four, I sucked the sugar coating off her iron pills and spat out the bitter centres.

At least you didn’t find the antifreeze.

Fascinating.
The war generations had so many factors going on that picking up sugar rationing seems highly speculative.
Really liked the video. Somehow dementia is a bit like global warming. It may be too late. There are factors outside of your control or influence. But you would be a fool not to do want you can.

My dad avoided sugar and sweet things but ended up with vascular dementia. Years ago they were blaming old fashioned cast iron pans.
