Suggestions for Men's Suit shopping?

Sada is a legend, elusive and exclusive, at least as far as I know.

Bon chance!

off topic: Mud, if there is a link to Sada Abe...better avoid.

Hmm, that's odd....we just exchanged phone numbers via PM.

^^^^^^

Ok, back on topic....

So I tried calling some of these places yesterday evening. The phones seem to just ring off the hook. I'm guessing most businesses are closed on sundays??

shop on sundays? are you crazy???

Don't worry about it - DB has way too many thanks already for his own good. He needs some more groans, lest his virtual ego grow too large.

Oh, er... yes.

Switzerland is very "quaint" that way and is one of those things that foreigners really love or hate but get used to.

Fairly limited to travel and hospitality type businesses open on Sundays. It makes for a nice relaxing day - but a little tough to get anything done if you're busy the rest of the week.

opening hours are normally from 9:00 to 18:30 on weekdays and from 9:00 to 17:00 on Saturdays.

This thread on "european cut suits" made me wonder what a non-EU suit looks like. When I googled "US suit", the first picture was from a website callled "gaysexpornblog" (I really should switch on safe search...) and the next looked like this:

this

this:

and finally this:

I am not joking. So what does a "US style suit" look like compared to Europe?

The american suits do not have that tailared body lines.

They are longer and wider and do not folow the contours of the middle body... sleaves are longer also, pants are looser.

Go to a meeting once and pay attention to it, or look at it in the movies.

You can pick out an American style suit very easily.

OK, here's a helpful link contrasting both styles of formal wear.

And if you'd like some visual aids....scroll below....

American Style Suits would look like this:

this guy is in the wrong suit entirely...

The European suits which look something like this:

Hope this helped Treverus!

Go for your second pic in regards to the cut. The first is too tappered in at the waist. Formal events: grey or navy, not black unless it's a funeral (no brown in Spring or Summer).

Also try PKZ, but you're in for 600 to 800 SFr for an elegant cut. Forget it being ready in 4 days, that doesn't exist here. If you're in a hurry try a bridal store (I kid you not) to rent one.

Enjoy your stay.

Oh and btw, just in case, I believe fatigues from any other country wouldn't be well considered, or even allowed (nothing is allowed here), so you better find that suit

Thanks, it did. I must say that I was not aware that this is a cultural difference. Looks like I have seen plenty of US suits before on international business trips, but simply thought that there are plenty of men who buy poorly cut suits... I was only aware of the differences between British and Italian cuts.

I noticed that Schild are offering a Saville Row "Made To Measure" option. Not sure on the price range, but a tailored suit would be your best bet given your height. And they're so much better than off the peg.

For a more budget option try the discount store by Enge station

Dude, you can't skimp on a suit
