Suggestions/recommendations for shipping goods in Europe?

I need to ship a large amount of computer bags to Sweden for a conference in 2 weeks. Probably about 100 Kg total in 20 boxes. Aside from the obvious FedEx/DHL, does anyone know of alternative shipping companies that they recommend? Price is my main factor, but of course would like a minimum of service (and hope boxes actually get there!).

thnx,

fduvall

Get a quote from the Post, they are generally much cheaper than DHL and should be pretty safe between here and Sweden. We use DPD for our deliveries and I know that deliveries to the UK they team up with Parcel Force (the UK post office parcel delivery people)

At work we would use Agility, TNT or several others. I personally find agility to be the best.

Depending on the total volume, it might be an idea to stick it all on a pallet and get a freight company to transport it.

Did this with my personal items from UK to Switzerland......think it was a couple of hundred euros.

Hi fduvall, this is an address for a Scandinavian company (or mail company to be exact). I`m not sure about the prizes, but the company is serious and they speak English.

I have also had some experience with different cargo companies when we moved to Switzerland (from Oslo, but a lot of the cargo companies are Scandinavian and Norway/Sweden are often treated as "one" country), but I need to check around a little and ask my boyfriend about some internet sides we contacted during that time. A lot of them are serious, and can move your stuff cheap and safe -but some might "change" their mind after you`d agree on a price.

Ok, here`s some addresses. I have contacted some of the same companies we`d contacted when moving to Switzerland. The problem is that they have all this forms in either norwegian or Swedish, not English. The cheapest is of course freight forwarding, there is a lot of empty trucks with no cargo and lots of space heading back to Sweden from Europe.

This is a company we`d contacted about moving to Switzerland, we needed to moved about 20- 30 boxes using freight forwarding.

Are you talking about moving companies for furniture, and such? Or is it something else? Sounds promising...

Thnx,

Nellen & Quack (based in Germany) was the company i used to get my things from UK to here.

But there are several others e.g Wilgo Freight, Expeditors etc... (sorry dont know any swiss ones, but should not matter as all theses companies have their own agents in countries all over the world)

They will ship anything as long as its on a pallet by air or sea to and from anywhere on the planet (within reason)

These 'freight forwarders' or 'transport agents' (not 100% sure how to describe these companies) normally only transport goods for companies, but are always more than willing to take the odd extra pallet here or there to fill up a lorry that is already heading in that direction.

If you do use a company like this make sure that you state that you want your items to be on a 'non-stackable pallet' otherwise you goods will arrive looking like a pancake............also using shrink wrap is highly recommended to ensure they dont fall off.

Hope that helps.

cheers
