sunrise internet box issue

Hello everyone,

I recently switched from Fiber7 to Sunrise for Internet. For my desktop which is directly connected to router via cable, everything is fine as the speed goes up to 800 Mbps.

However, for the wifi, the speed is really not stable. On my laptop, sometimes it goes below 1Mbps. I need to frequently switch off and switch on the router to make it a bit faster. I already contacted the customer service and got a new router. For a few days, the problem is gone. However, now the problem is back again and I need to switch off and on the router every hour.

I guess the router is the problem. But now I'm not sure if getting an another new router will solve the problem.

Anyone has this sort of problem?

Thanks

Xuan

Have you tried different channels?

Yep, both 2.4G and 5G channels. I normally use 5G channel.

Those are the bands, not the channels. On my sunrise box, I go to sunrise.box and log in. I then click on the settings gear wheel for 5GHz, then the wireless environment tab, then click on start scan.

I then get a graph showing all the wireless networks in the vicinity, with their channel numbers.

I do the same for the 2.4GHz band.

Check whether there are other wifi routers on the same channels. Move your router (for the band) to a less-used or preferably empty channel. (Basic tab of your wifi settings)

Wow, it's working. I followed it and found out I was on the same channel with my neighbors. Afterwards, I switched to a channel which is not used. From last night to this morning, the wifi is pretty fast and stable.

Thanks a lot NotAllThere

many thanks as well, worked really well!
