The "strange connector" is called a Reichle connector. It is the older style Swisscom plug for analog phone lines. Adapters are readily available, Swisscom usually includes one in the router package.
I do not know how it is in case of Sunrise but if think it will not be much different from Swisscom. With Swisscom it is pretty easy, you plug in the box right there. Done.
You may not get fiber speeds at all. Even if Sunrise supplies the building at a high enough bit rate, if the cabling inside the building (between the demarc and the socket in your apt, and within the apt itself) isn't up to snuff then you'll end up having to call an electrician to get the max rate out of the connection.
And that's just to the router. If you have a cable only Ethernet device in another room then you'll need a cable to get from the router to that device.
Yes. If you want gigabyte internet. But you dont want that.
And your present socket/wiring might not support 40/40. My limit before fibre was 20/20. Now I have fibre from Swisscom and its 100/100. Ask Sunrise about fibre availability at your house.A new socket is installed and wiring completely replaced.
I have spoken with the landlord about this and he has in his flat a R45 socket that he installed himself! hahaha. He told me that it's easy... And he hast the maximum available from sunrise here in the building for the start connection: 40 / 20MB. Not bad I think.
It sounds great. I think I will install this as well.
You dont need to install anything.Everything should be included in the kit that you will recieve from Sunrise. Sunrise provide an adaptor with the Modem.
