I think that this needs a whole thread for itself, as it is pure awesome.
Thanks Natasha I was considering posting this yesterday - it certainly makes you think not to judge a book by it's cover! everyone had written her off just because of the way she looked, society seriously needs to get a grip as everything is purely about image these days
Wow thanks Natasha i had to watch that twice i was so impressed it brought tears to my eyes, i was not expecting that what an amazing voice she as.
This gives me goose bumps everytime I watch it! I hope your dream comes true Susan! You are an inspiration to us all. God Luck!
I must say, we did all snigger when she came on last saturday. We didn't laugh long mind.
I also watched it yesterday and wondered how someone with a voice like that has not been discovered somewhere. It is a great story and I wish her well.
I have a mental picture, though, of her singing every day at home to an audience of her 100 cats...
fduvall
She bears an uncanny resemblance to my first infant school teacher when I was 5 so I was spooked more than anything.
Her voice wasn't my cup of tea- but I loved her attitude. She just -smirked- when people laughed at her, as though she had a secret which comforted her. And she did, I suppose!
Good for her. I hope she goes far
I had to watch the video twice - absolutely fantastic. Best of all were the judges' reactions when they realised that she has an incredible voice. May the force be with her
Yes she's great, this is another Paul Potts in the making .
Aside from her rich and expressive voice, she has great confidence too. Wasn't fazed by the eye-rolling and sniggering of the two male judges and some members of the audience.
I kind of fear to see how they'd 'style' her during the finals (I'm sure she'll get there) - what they'd do to her hair and makeup. Hope they don't tweeze her eyebrows to death.
Surely she must have sung in local musical productions? Anyone read anything?
I thought the same.
Search for "Susan Boyle - Cry me a River" on youtube.
The press, as far as I have seen, only quotes her as having sung in church.
Good luck to her. I, too, thought she had a solid base of confidence and self-assuredness.
EDIT: Thanks for the update, Natasha - I posted too late...
This isn't another Paul Potts , no, this is something much bigger in the making. To put things into perspective the Paul Potts video on YouTube has in nearly 2 years been viewed over 44 million times where as Susan Boyle's video is about to break 20 million in less than 6 days from it's initial posting..!!
Slightly OT, but I thought Stavros Flatley was damn funny too
How many of the audience, or the jury for that matter, possess a record of music that was written more than hundred years ago? If she makes a CD nobody will buy it. TV is about illusions. (Cynism might be hay-fever enhanced)
Yes me too, had me laughing lots
I balled my eyes out. Thanks Natasha there's nowt like a good sob to clear the sinuses. I wish this Lady all the best in the world. I do have reservations though that she will find the whole show bizz "razz ma tazz" a bucket of shite and say "No Thank you".
You could have used the same argument for Faryl whatsherface, but she sold plenty of CDs.
Hay fever seems to bring out the opposite effect in me
An article about her:
