Swanky and trendy restaurant in the heart of Zurich

Hello all!

This is my first post on englighforum.ch so I hope I'm doing it right! I guess if no one replies then something went wrong, or no one has a good answer!

I am new to Zurich and am looking for a swanky, tendy restaurant - with good food! - in the heart of Zurich to go and have dinner at with a friend. Can anyone suggest a cool place? Maybe a place that has a website?

Maybe you can check out Kreis 5 - there are plenty of restaurants there.

I personally like Gnüsserei located at Puls 5

Sankt Meinrad - recently achieved one Michelin star. Spendy and difficult to get a reservation though.

I think that Terasse is good. Right in center of Zurich and has nice bar as well for after dinner and not too expensive.

Depressingly this is also my recommendation for a safe night out. Our "local" is Liguria on Niederdorf, which has a good fish and seafood selection and seems to get italian food right 90% of the time.

I live in Kreis 5 and like Gnusserai, LaSalle, but Josef is my favorite of the ones mentioned. You get to choose as many small plates as you like for a fixed price for 2-3-4-5. Good selection and great wine list if you like central European wines. Gnusserai has a very Swiss menu, and is expensive but not really hip. LaSalle and Josef are both hip. Josef gets the nod as you can sample more food with the small plate theme.

Give Josef a try!

PS - Angkor is pretty good, but not hip or swanky.

I agree - we had a fab meal there - v pricey - but then where in Zurich isn't?

I agree, La Salle is a good choice. Or how about the Angkor Restaurant?
