I'm looking forward to swimming in the river again soon. One thing that I never found a good solution for was how to carry stuff with you while you swim. I have tried the different 'wicklefisch' bags, but they interfere with swimming.
Anyone know of a good solution which enables you to carry a pair of running shoes while still being able swim freestyle?
I'd like to be able to run upstream and then swim and carry my running shoes back with me to have them available when I get out of the water.
Paging Slammer, who I know swims & tows a bag of clothes.
I would get something like this which drags behind you whilst you swim:

It also has two safety advantages - visibility and emergency floatation.
That's what we use when we do "swim-runs" (or run-swims, or run-swim-runs, etc ).... It's no problem to secure it around my waist and drag it behind with my shoes (and sunglasses) in there... Definitely a fun combo -- Enjoy!
Have a look at the Ortlieb range of drybags or the new kid on the block Sopras.
I got a Ortlieb drybag rucksack for pootling in and out of the bays and just ordered a low volume apnea mask from Sopras.
...Hmm!Come to think of it I also have a bundle of Wickelfish bags here as I had a thought to sell them here on MT, didn ́t work out as the shops that would most likely sell these things were put off by the (over the top) CHian prices I would have had to charge. Also I found that they maybe great for a bob in the Rhine but in seawater they tended to leak after a short while and also they can ́t stand being used on a rocky or sandy coastline.
I have a few wickelfish/dry bags. The issue I found is when swimming front crawl, having the bag over your shoulder interferes with the arm stroke and having it training behind interferes with the legs.
I might try to attach a small bag tightly on my back at the waist which might work.
You’re training for triathlon and wearing a wetsuit - you don’t need to worry about your legs being interfered with, as they they should be still!
