Actually they do but never mind there is another way... As I have a number of visitors who come in different cars on a semi regular basis it seemed necessary to learn how to not just take the vignette off but in one piece! The secret to it is either get hold of an old safety razor blade - the type that are very dangerous and have sharp edges on two sides - or to get hold of the type of carpet knife that has the long thin blade that you keep pushing further out and snapping off the last piece. You then "cut" diagonally across the vignette until it becomes difficult then you cut from the next corner and so on until just the middle needs to be done which is a simple task. Questions?!
Has anyone tried sticking one to a thin piece of laminate, then sticking that to the windscreen with a more transferable adhesive? I guess the hard thing would finding a laminate/adhesive that would be unnoticeable under all light conditions..
I guess at 40chf a pop it would be a costly experiment if it went bad, not to mention what it would cost if you got caught.
when my father was alive a few years ago in england, he travelled to switzerland about twice a year, being a typical swiiss he peeled the vignette from the backing and placed it on a piece of clingfilm, therefore easily removable or transferable(illegal!)
he shared it with at least 3 people to my knowledge!
Adhesives are widely used by both manufacturers. You can't weld kevlar and other composites.
It particularly annoying when the border police don't just give you the vignette in exchange for cash, they insist on sticking it right in your eyeline inside the windscreen. Buy it at kiosk.
A trick to help with removal: when you get the new vignette, stick it on your bluejean trousers' leg (don't worry - it doesn't stick). It will pick up tiny bits of textile fluff which will degrade the adhesive quality and greatly help when "peeling off" time comes.
