hello everybody, i am very confused and in fear of a thing that has been eating up me from quite a while now. I am a student from India having a b permit here in Switzerland. I am finishing my internship on 31 of oct and have visa until then. I was trying to find flights on 1-2 but i couldn't. I will be flying back on 4. Is it gonna be okay that i am overstaying my visa for 4 days or is it going to create problems ? Please answer my question if you have any information regarding it. Thank you.

Ask the cantonal migration office to give you a tourist visa for a few days to cover it.

Hello, you didnt answer my question properly. Is it going to be such a big deal for 4 days? Is it really necessary as i will be flying back to my home country.

Yes it can be a big deal if you are unlucky so ask for a tourist visa.

I don't think you will need a visa, since you are not returning.

Just inform the population office of your departure date and they will extend it in their system, 4 days is really not much of an issue for them, just inform them to be sure it is recorded.

If you're unlucky, you risk a fine + not being allowed to ever return to Switzerland.

Get an extension for a week, even as a tourist.

Check with the Cantonal immigration office. I think you have 28 days time to leave the country after the permit expires ( I'm not 100% sure though). Worst case you could apply for 'exit visa'. Call and also send a mail to Cantonal Immigration office.

As others have said, go to your local population office.

- Bring return ticket confirmation with you & explain.

- Deregister at the same time if you havent done so yet.

- Have your deregistration document handy at the airport.

I can't deregister because i might be coming back to do my third year of studies when i have sufficient funds.

I would think that if you stay registered as a resident without having a residence permit, then you are definitely overstaying your visa whether you are physically leaving or not...

Then you will be overstaying and risk your permit and/or being allowed entry into Schengen for a couple of years.

You need proof of deregistration for canceling your health insurance amongst others.

Well, you need to to show you are leaving the country. And the permit will expire if you’re out of the country for 6 months anyway.
