Hello guys,
I would like to ask your advise about Swiss CPA, whether such a thing exist in Switzerland, recognized in whole Switzerland as chartered certificate like ACCA or CIMA.
I tried to google it but haven't found one which looks like guranteed by governmental authority.
Would you please explain me how it works in Switzerland?
Thanks!
There is indeed such a thing as a Swiss Certified Accountant/dipl. eidgen. Wirtschaftspruefer. But that's a professional practice based qualification as I understand it. I work in a BIG 4 firm and all my trainees study towards this. There are a bunch professional exams as well as practical experience as with the qualifications you cite. If you speak German or French google "Treuhand Kammer" and you'll get to the right professional body.
I am not aware of anything with industry focus but I never tried to find out. I do know my largest Swiss client offers trainees support to study for CIMA or ACCA though as part of their graduate programmes.
Hope that's useful.
In addition to the previous post, the
Auditor Oversight Act provides for the recognition of various EU accounting qualifications.
Hi Sofia
If you have any more detail questions about Swiss CPAs, you can ask me. I started studying towards the Swiss CPA, but never finished all exams. One of the drawbacks of the Swiss CPA ("Eidg. Diplomierter Wirtschaftsprüfer") is, that it is just a Swisswide qualification and is not recognized in the US. The exam is only given in German or French, so for anybody not having German or French as a mother tongue, it is almost impossible to pass (the Exam is already very difficult in the mother tongue and there is a huge percentage of people who fail the exams).
This website here offers more information about Swiss CPAs and how to become one:

Why? It's a serious question. What do you want to do with it? With a question like that sounds like ACCA would be more relevant, or maybe in Switzerland a Federal Controlling Diploma, the Wirtschaftsprüfer is very tax and audit oriented in my experience.
How many months do you think is enough to prepare the ACCA exam? I am thinking of that. I graduated from finance and took some accounting courses before, but not in depth.
Best to contact the ACCA itself. But I think there are modules over 3 years. It's a serious professional qualification, not "renta'certificate"
Thank you for your reply. I will try to do more research on that.
