Swiss Drinks (Alcoholic)

It seems whenever I go out round here, I end up drinking a lot of shots and spirits, some seem rather local, what are your favourites?

Here's a couple

Jaegermeister : Not swiss I know, but the swiss seem to drink an awful lot of it, I usualy end up knocking back more than a few shots of this on a heavy night.

Carachio : Coffee mixed with brandy (I think), usualy the spirit is set fire to. We sometimes have these towards the end of the night, sometimes they wake you up again.

Speed Balls/Jaeger Bombs : Disgusting, glass of red bull with a shot glass/tiny bottle of Jaeger dropped in, to be drunk in one go, too many leads to dodgy guts for the next couple of days.

Hoodrio(?) : Never get the name of this one, drunk during Faschnacht and other outdoor events in the freezing cold, hot fruit tea mixed with some fruit schnapps, served with a teabag, the teabag is usualy flung in the air to stick to the ceiling of your bar, some bars have ceilings covered in tea bags during faschnacht.

I admire your courage having tried those, hum..., drinks !!!

Not a big spirit drinker, but i used to like:

Vodka, Red Bull.

Blueballs, and lemonade.

Martini.

I personally am not a big shot drinker, but if im out on a big night why not.

I just hate sweet shots, if someone buys a round, it needs to be a strong spirit!

Recently got into drinking rum straight up, El Dorado 15 years being the object of my obsession.

i really want to try some of the famous swiss absinthe...but the places recommended by my FIL all seem very very dodgy ie. the absinthe is still the original stuff with wormwood...now not sure if that is a good or bad thing...any swiss or others who have tried the real stuff?

ps . i am the original green fairy.....

Ah yes, that little "Fée verte" really is delicious !!!

I did try some once, but I don't think it was "real", someone brought it back from holiday, I do remember it was 70%, and gave me a terrible, terrible hangover.

This monstrosity is called Flying Hirsch in Zurich and Einsiedeln.

In winter, I like my Kafi Luz (coffee/plum schnaps/sugar), wine punch etc. but these are beverages of international success.

so you've tried it Sada? tell me more....

Here in the Oberaargau, we are lucky enough to have our own brewery

(which even does tours!) & has a great selection of beers available at different times of the year. It's a "microbrewery" and it's most famous (and most delicious ) beer is "Hasli Bier".

There's a bistro, where you can try out all the seasonal beers in tasting glasses,

and get a tasty sausage or bretzel (also made locally) at the same time.

It also produces it's own whisky "The Olde Deer" which is golden and wonderful, but sadly, only limitedly available.

Cheers!

It was at a friends house, they served it as a welcome drink. I love the anise flavor of it, it is a lovely liquor.

I don't know what poor cyrus drunk there though!!!

I love it in or with chocolate, absolutely delicious !!!

if it comes with chocolate ...then i'm popping out to get some now!

Schümlipflümli!!!

Would you also happen to know the Café Güggel ?

These are House Drinks, things you put with your coffee !!!

Lemoncino anyone?

Too girlie alone. But great with vodka.

I have both of those.

But never mixed them...

will try

Schümlipflümli, that's a ski drinky for me.

I try to avoid "things with coffee" at home, as its hard to explain to the pre-teen why Mummy is getting p1ssed at 7 am.

Erm.............. Where do you live please

Doing my shopping this morning I came across a 1lt bottle of Absinthe from Kübler - Val-de-Travers, 53% Vol., cost me almost 50 Sfr. I'm gonna pour some into Sunday' dessert
