Swiss duties discount

I remember always paying 30 chf handling fee plus percentage of the indicated costs. Surprisingly I got some discount this time.

Anyone knows the rules? It was my first duty bill this year.

Swiss legislation regarding customs duties and VAT on imports has evolved in recent years. Some changes have been made to simplify procedures and reduce administrative costs, particularly for small shipments.

It depends which company does the work, but for the Post it has always been like that that more or less.

  • Charges: 16 (world) or 13 (EU countries) + 3% of the value of the goods - CHF 1.50 (discount for paying online). This goes to the post (max 70 chf though)
  • On top, you have to pay the VAT 8.1 % on the goods, paid to the state

~I haven’t pay anything else, should I receive another invoice for the VAT or am I supposed to self-declare it somewhere?~

ok, the seller added 8.1% on the invoice
