Hello, I have been trying to find information on whether it is possible, as an EU citizen living in Switzerland, to enroll my children in a public school in France. I only found information on the inverse situation.
Thank you for any insights you may have.
So you live in Switzerland, but work in France and want to send your kid there?
I’ve heard of one case but the schools are reluctant to do it. You’d have to talk to the school directly.
Also there are huge practical issues as the French school holidays do not match the Swiss holidays.
I looked at putting my daughter through the French system, but the admin of having 2 kids with 2 different holiday schedules killed that idea quickly.
There’s also a French school in Basel, but it is a private one you have to pay for.
Assuming you are tax resident in Switzerland, I could envisage the French authorities objecting to you sending a child to their state school system if you don’t contribute via taxes. Could be possible if you were sending the child to a private school, though?
I know of families in Basel paying for their kids to go to private school in France and Germany but never to public school.
