I would like to attend a swiss german course, especially to learn basel dialect. My wife is from Basel but unfortunately we do not talk so much in swissgerman. But I can be able to practice with her anytime. However I need a course even my wife is swiss and my company will pay it for me.
I have a B2 German certificate and probably now I am between B2-C1 in high German. So I can somehow understand swiss german but it is not enough.
First of all, I want to understand all kind of dialects and then, if possible, I would like to speak also a dialect (basel dialect)
There are several options. I am not sure whether I should choose an online or a weekly or summer course. Is there anyone who has experience with this school and the course type?
I am open to hear any other suggestions. Thank you in advance
Since you're not a total beginner, I think a weekly course would make more sense. But then again, maybe a summer course would give you the boost you need.
When my wife did the Klubschule it was the Bern dialect. The GGG course is Basel dialect. You can have the first few lessons for free as I recall, before deciding whether to pay or continue. We found the GGG course very useful.
We took German classes with GGG. You get the first 2 weeks free to let you decide if it's the right level for you. I notice some of the Basel Dialect courses can be taken via e-learning now.
The teachers are really patient and GGG courses are quite cheap compared to others, one of the most expensive language schools is Akademia at Schifflande - I did German A1 intensive there and couldn't follow one of the tutors, she was all over the place.
