I like to give books - what better way to conjur up memories of Switzerland?
One of my favorites is Schellen-Ursli:

Yes, it's a children's book - but it is such a lovely story, beautifully illustrated - and to my mind, so very Swiss.
My friends whose Swiss experience left them somewhat less young-at-heart are usually given Max Frisch's 'Stiller'.

(Both are also available in English translation.)
I have been searching some unique Swiss souvenir for friends and families -- all price/product ranges but not too tourist feel (flag, cow bell, army knife).
I used google search and links from this English Forum come first I have browsed thro' all posts but they are either very outdated or quick tourist feel (as mentioned above)
anybody could share your opinion please. Link to web is welcome.
thanks
These go beyond the standard tourist stuff. Might not be fully understood by anyone who has not been here though.
Freitag bags? Very Swiss, very practical.

If they're Roger Fans...... I recommend his calendar:

They sell them at Manor and at bookstores -- they're 70% off now.- I think I saw it at Thalia.
Cuckoo Clock or Swiss knife. You can check some watch too.

Schweizer Heimatwerk
You can get a lot of good stuff there...... not cheap though.
The person who reactivated the thread (muffin) was looking for non-touristy stuff, though...
