I ́ve just joined this forum because I read very good post and recommendations like the one from PlantHead.
I ́m a RF engineer and as some of you I ́m looking for a job in Zurich. The problem is that most of the recruitment companies are IT focussed. What I ́m looking for is an agency specialized in mobile operators such us Swisscom, Sunrise.., because as PlantHead said is almost impossible to make contact with HR department.
Does anyone know more agencies like ELANIT or SWISSLINX? Any suggestion is more than welcomed...I'm lost!!!
I don ́t know how to thank in this forum yet, but I just wanted to say thanks for your piece of advice. I ́ve just registered with Swisslinx...so wish me good luck!
This lady focuses mostly on Zug jobs, but she gives excellent advice and has a really good eye for picking out opportunities that are well-suited to you.
And of course, if you're looking for jobs in the telecom industry as mentioned, I work at the 7th largest telecom in Switzerland, www.tic.ch , at least until the end of the month. Not in Zurich, unfortunately, but you can check the open positions if you don't mind working half an hour south of Zurich. If you apply, tell them you heard about it through me. ;-)
I have been looking for one of those in this part of the world for several years now, and haven't been able to find it.... it could be a....errr... challenging quest.... Other than the usual suspects, like Spanish and Portuguese branches of banks, travel companies..... Anyway, you probably might find easier to find companies that have their have global headquarters here and that are in need of staff to handle their Spanish and Portuguese subsidiaries / clients... even in this case, you very likelly would need to speak at least English to communicate with your other colleagues... I would recommend you to enter these languages as a criterium of search....
Let us know if you are sucessfulll and find anything that suits you....
Have you tried applying through a UK recruitment agency? The larger multinational companies may be recruiting native english speakers for swiss branches/HQ.
I cannot seem to thank you for this post officially, but thankyou so much. I sent my resume yesterday afternoon, they got back to me first thing today, we spoke for 20 minutes, and I feel very positive now in regards to
employment oppurtunities. They were very proffesional, sincere, and I feel that they had my best interests at heart.
Try Comfone, it's an English speaking telecommunications company based in Bern. On occasion they look for people in Sales, their website is www.comfone.com
Guys, I live in Lausanne and am looking for a job in the area of IT - Software Project Management, Project Coordinator, Project Lead. I am mostly functional but hey, 10 years in the industry has given me a good technical grounding.
Anyway, to get to the point, I have been looking for 9 months now and have not been successful. I have been to so many agencies, then decided to just use 4 or 5 as this is better. I am using all my contacts and still nothing. What the hell is going on here ??
I had a similar situation to yourself. It took me just under 10 months to get my first contract, I'm a certified project manager with 5 years experience and 8 years IT experience.
I had about 12 interviews from 40 odd applications and found the reasons for not offering the position were starting to point to the same thing.
I removed my professional qualifications and highest post graduate qualification from my CV and 'hey presto' was offered the next position I was interviewed for. Now work for one of the 'big 2' as a PM.
You may well be intimidating the people interviewing you.
As for Swisslinx, the only contact i had from them was for a position in Dubai, way too hot for me out there.....
