Swiss mattresses are terribly bad, ALL

Matresses in Switzerland are terrible, the worst ever. And the problem is that one is stuck here as all shops sell swiss mattresses. I guess it is a perfect business because people who buy a Swiss mattress soon needs to go to the shop to change it. Normally, shps don't change it or only to the same model but with different hardness. Thus, one needs to buy a second 'swiss' mattress, hoping this will be ok, given the high price! But it is not, and after buying the 3rd, and the 4th... And then searching for alternatives one finds out that all mattresses in Switzerland are made out with the same material basis from a company in the Swiss German part... It is surely a great business (people try to buy new better ones frequently to new dissapointment) and a total trap to those living in this (strongly protectionist) country.

Business industry, government... Please, let brands from other countries to bring their mattreses here. It would largely improve people's health

As far as I know the mattresses in IKEA are not Swiss and they will exchange for a different one if you're not happy.

Why don't you go there?

I haven't done a comprehensive survey and I can't be bothered to check but I find it very hard to believe that ALL the mattresses sold in all stores in Switzerland are actually Swiss.

Hey, and welcome to the Forum. Nice to meet you

Now if you would like some help and advice- perhaps you could say what you would like to find? We often find what we are used to comfortable- and other stuff not. Very likely that Swiss people do suffer when they go to your country- as they are not used to your type of mattress.

So, what can we do for you? What are you looking for? A sprung mattress perhaps? Or a futon? You can of course import what you want- but it might be expensive. Or it might be availabe somewhere here, or in nearby France.

We are a pretty helpful bunch, but how can we guess?

I am sure that shops allow potential buyers to test mattresses before buying which prevents having to keep buying new ones.

We bought ours from Ikea, we were encouraged to try them in the store to decide which we preferred.

I've never checked the nationality of my mattress, but I bought it here.

You may take my husband, but you'll never take my mattress!!!

We had the same experience when we bought ours in Conforma. The assistant encouraged us to try them and not just by sitting on them but by lying down on them. Sitting on the does not give an accurate indication of how hard or soft they are according to the lady we dealt with.

This firm, for instance, sells British beds worldwide, including in Switzerland- most famous brands. Mind you, when we bought out Super King Size Dunlopillo mattress in the UK 10 years ago- it cost us twice the price of the bed. Good stuff though- a good mattress is worth paying for imho:

My wife had many months of serious back pains in the night. After 6 months of detailed research she composed a mattress solution you cannot buy in any shop. You also cannot find her idea in the internet. The back pains are gone to 98 per cent.

Your rant contains more bollocks than a gay orgy.

Twice as much using this as a measure !

This post would have been at least slightly helpful if you'd included what that idea was!

What a load of hogwash!

I can relate to your frustration if you fell for the overpriced foam crap that many salespeople like to push on you, but you can get excellent matresses (spring, latex, tempur, etc.) from many countries here.

Admittedly sometimes at ridiculous prices but that wasn't your complaint, was it?

BTW, IKEA has some pretty decent models too and you can actually return them if you're not happy.

Hi! As a consequence of years of experience, I am a expert on mattress, and I can tell you that you have it all wrong! You got to get with the time ghost, Ms Pescado!

Research has shown that the traditonal mattress to what you refer are in actual terrible for correct alignment of spinal chakras, and therefore gurus scholars and a monk from Srinagar to Guwahati now reccomend that for correct health of mind body and soul you must to lie on special design stone mattress only like this:

This one does not come for the cheap! No! You must make initial payment of many hundred Swiss francs, then many instalment of great value, but for great benefit of a good night sleep!? Why would you not?

Please to contact me and I give you name of very good mattress mason in your town for small fee. Your lingam will thank me so very gratefully!

Buy a water mattress, problem solved.

This also bring advantage of drowning bed bugs - very recomended!

I think she meant mistresses and found out her partner has one.

Thank you very much, Odile, I will indeed try an Ikea one... Being carefull is not an imitation od the swiss ones (mouss layers on external parts). Bon apres-midi

Karen, welcome to our forum. One of the greatest intros ever. It's difficult to squeeze such a lot of nonsense into less than ten lines and then post it even on two threads , word by word. Congrats.

I don't know if copy-and-pasting the same b.s. into several posts in order to reach the ten posts you need to put your old non-Swiss mattresses on sale is allowed by the mods, though.

A mistress is something between a mister and a mattress.

Hi, many thanks for your reply. i would like to find less sophisticated mattresses, wihtout the sticky mouss that gets onto the body, and without so many different points of support, hardness and softness that would only fit a few persosn or the average one but not everyone.

No mouss in exterior part is virtually impossible to find in a swiss matress; steady surfaces without multiple softeness (eg for shoulders, for hips, for feet) seem to also be impossible any more. At least, every time I bought a mattress in recent months asking explicitly not to have those features, they always tried to convince me that now I was going to buy the super latest high quality model ... Only with time, I got to realize that the problem was that I always get the 'same type of swiss mattress; with different names and brands that's what they sell everywhere).

I travel a lot and it is a pleasure to sleep in other countries mattresses, in hotels and appartments - I always look forward to my trips for this reason. I geel quite stuck. I will try Ikea and, otherwise, will have to go shopping to another country.

Swiss mattresses don't have all this shit (if we believe your first post, of course)
