I love Lunik..

And Mich Gerber is another Swiss musician whom I like his music. Here is a video feat. Jäel from Lunik:

Let's not forget the Kummerbuebe! A very funny video if you know what kind music they usually play in the Musigstubete, all the old folk expected traditional Swiss folk music

For the Rock'n Rollers out there:

There's some cool bands on The Voodoo Rhytm-label based in Bern

Fxl: Reverend Beatman with/without The Monsters, Roy and the Devil's Motorcycle and Urban Junior. Cult bands, maybe not typical swiss music, but these bands regularly tour all over Europe and have fans all over. And lets not forget about Young Gods...

That's brilliant, thanks! And Olygirl, you're right, having just come back from 4 days near Interlaken, they do play rather a lot of Volksmusik (too much for my liking!)

that was a very funny video, especially watching the people's reaction at the start, from shock horror to slight bemusement at the end. Can't understand the words, were they rude?

No, not rude. But clearly a bit fast for the clientele sitting around there. Very humourous, and I would say the audience was not just "slghtly" bemused but very much amused. At least when they all got what the parody was all about

You gotta mention Göla. His teaming up with the Bellamy Brothers (from America) have given us fabulous hits.

Bellamy Bros (adopted Swiss by now) have brought the yodeling open of "I Must be in Switzerland" as a classic. Even has cowbells.

And the tragic Gotthard. LOVE his One Life, One Soul and the haunting "Follow Me." Gorgeous!

My kids are enjoying these:

More Traditional:

More Contemporary (and cute dancing by a local Zurich kid):

Remember to keep your posts coming, and I was wondering EF "masters" if you could create a "Swiss music" category, to tidy things up a little bit? Thank you.

A site listing bands from Zurich. On the site you can listen to their music for free (streaming) and can read their biographies too.

Definitiv Zuerich

Some songs on there are better than others...

Has anyone heard of Stimmhorn? I had an album I found disappointing (too electronic for me), but I've heard other albums were brilliant and perhaps a tad more traditional, which would suit me best. Any recommendation?

Also, do you know if Sonnalp's CDs can be purchased in High Street retailers?

Music is solid on your boyfriend's first two tracks. I am little lost on the direction of the vocals though.

thanks for taking the time to listen and for the feedback! i will pass it on!

Thank you for the link!:.. looks good!

Hi!

I've recently discovered a new swiss singer: Adrian Stern. I think he sounds like country, I suggest to listen to "Amerika". The lyrics are in Schwiizertüütsch. (At least I think so)

I like him very much!

There's also another interesting singer in Switzerland, even if she sings in italian (also because she has italian nationality): Mina. She lives in Lugano and is one of the most important female singer in Italy, Germany and South America.

;-)

Anyone know The Birthday Girls? I haven't heard much of their work, but the guitarist seems like a great guy.

Pitiful English, but good keyboards from these early Genesis or Marillion wannabes:

(Actually just speed up to 27:26 for the keyboard solo)
