Just realizing that, unfortunately, I will miss the national day celebrations at home on Jul 2 ....reminds me, Swiss national day is just a little more than a month away .
Basel would not be a bad idea. Fire works from two boats on either side of Mittlere Rhein Bruecke. Synchronized and well-planned event.
Last year CHF 70,000 was spend for fireworks from Basel alone !

August 1st is correct I had a browse around zuerich.ch but could not see anything listed for Aug 1st, there are normally fireworks etc.
August 1st is the day, and Horgen, Meilen or Rapperswil are good places to celebrate. Fireworks over the lake, and if you are lucky you get free wine in the center of town.

Go to the stall outside Migros and buy a chf50 mixed bag of rockets and set them off yourself. I do every year, as does half the population. For an Australian, the ability to do this is truly one of the great Swiss freedoms to be celebrated

Neighbours put it up weeks ago. Guess they used woman’s football for the first excuse, not August first … hope they won’t find excuses all year round.
and the fireworks and similar sh*** have already started. I hate it!

while it is totally quiet around here. In fact I don’t remember it being so quiet. And as it has been nothing but raining lately it is not the fear of fire or ba ban.
Had a few bangs last night and we have a fireworks display opposite us tonight set up by the commune so that’ll be fun to watch.
