Swiss v EasyJet

My brother has used Swiss recently to fly into Geneva, today it's scheduled for a 90 minute delay, 3 weeks ago it was an hour late. Easyjet usually landed a few minutes early, never late

That's probably down to the weather or bad luck. I have experienced more delays with Easyjet than with Swiss, especially with flights later in the day.

I don't know the actual punctuality statistics but I suspect that Swiss have the better figures overall

Only once had a delay with easyjet - and they simply cancelled the flight and refunded everyone's fares a week later. It is how they keep they planes running on time...

I've experienced several quite severe delays with easyjet and also some cancellations. But all my flights in the last couple of years were fine so I guess they've managed to clean up their act.

i fly every week gatwick to geneva. i would estimate out of lets say 50 flights 45 have been late. not an exaggeration.

it is the last flight of the day and its only 20 mins or so normally but still

I have had one delay of 3 hours with easy jet in about 60 flights. The Mushroom Cloud was responsible for the disruption that time.

Do you mean late departure or late arrival, it's not the same thing. They can take off 20 minutes late & still arrive on time.

FWIW flying time is from when the door closes & the hand brake is let off so the plane moves 30cm rather than actual take off.

Heavy fog today in London. Several flights have been cancelled.

I've found SWISS to be generally highly reliable, easyJet less so.

Planes can take off from Gatwick with zero visibility so hardly an excuse. It's not as if FOG & London are an unusual combination.

I've only ever had a cancellation of easyjet because of this. They said it was the volcano. But I still managed to get to Edinburgh on a BA flight...which was 3 times the price

They didn't have space on any flights for the next two days.

Otherwise I had a very lengthy delay due to snow. We were stuck on the plane which was horrible. Weren't even given a free glass of water.

let's face it, easyJet ticks the boxes for what many people want from short-haul nowadays: cheap, transparent pricing.

I fly everywhere usually with easyJet as MXP is just around the corner. Arrival is usually not too bad, turnaround on the planes is quick. And now they've got rid of the cattle scrum for seating is gone, it's not bad.

Now for them to get real snarky like RyanAir about the luggage sizes would be fun.... But in the end, if you offer at the gate to put your bag in the hold, it's usually free and they are usually wanting people to offer.

The view towards Docklands at lunch today

Yes, it's a mess. Flying every weekend the reliability went down compared with the summer. And the delays are usually “low enough” to prevent you from http://www.refund.me/

both, as i say last flight at night so the build up of delays through the day.

to be fair it has been better last few weeks but then the flight times have changed slightly.

also to be fair BA are just as likely to be late

Well the Swiss flight has just gone from 125 minute delay to cancelled.

My experience with Swiss so far is great. Always on time, except for one flight from Vienna to Zurich a year ago. It was delayed because of big storm over Schwechat.

Haven't tried Easyjet yet, but planning to fly from basel to spain destinations in near future. I heard some bad stories about them though, but i heard the same thing for other airlines also. So, no worries there i guess..

Both my Easyjet and Swiss flights have always been on time (give or take 10 minutes). Except for one Swiss flight, but that was due to an air traffic control strike, so not their fault. Overall I prefer Swiss because it's just more comfortable.

TBH I like them both, albeit for different reasons. Yes I have had my fair share of disappointment with both but generally they both offer a competitive service which I have been happy with for quite some time.

Still trying to work out why easyjet do not fly to Wales apart from the obvious, when their in-flight magazine illustrates the UK coloured in orange of destinations they fly to and from?

Yes, in 1958.

Yesterday was actually the first fog I've seen in London this winter.

Some great pics here

I've never had a delayed flight with Easyjet nor Swiss yet. Though Swiss did bump me up to Business on a transatlantic flight earlier in the year, so I booked them as a thanks on my next flight (and it was 40 francs cheaper than Easyjet ).

Not sure (and bit too tired and ill at the moment to check), but I've always had the impression that Easyjet has greater scheduled flight time (e.g. 2+ hours etc. for LGW to ZRH).

I was once on an Easyjet flight from London to Basil that left a few minutes early and came in about an hour ahead of schedule and I think that was just down to how much time they allow.

Anyone, please correct me if this is wrong. Am really interested to know if my theory is right (but not enough to actually look it up myself )
