SwissCaution with L permit

Hi all,

Anyone having any experience with SwissCaution while on a L permit ? SwissCaution looks very attractive but I am concerned whether I shall be able to get it while on a L permit.

Welcome to our Forum!

No, sorry, but as a non Swiss you need a B or C permit,

Komplettieren Sie Ihren Antrag auf eine Mietkaution mittels einer Kopie der nachstehenden Dokumente : Ihr Mietvertrag oder dessen Entwurf Ein Identitätspapier von allen Mietern Sowie die Aufenthaltsgenehmigung B oder C bei ausländischen Staatsbürgern. http://www.swisscaution.ch/de/ihre-m...vorgehensweise

Thanks ! So the only option for L permit holders is to post a full deposit then ? Any other options anyone ?

Try firstcaution. They might be more flexible.

Thanks ! I will contact them. We are going to move to Zurich in May so its a bit far off. I was just trying to figure out the financial aspects of the move. Thank you both for your prompt responses !

I just went through this as an American with an L permit. Neither SwissCaution nor FirstCaution will accept holders of an L permit. BUT, I found a company called EuroKaution http://www.eurokaution.ch/ that does.

The only catch is that you must have lived in Switzerland for 6 months in order to apply. However, similar to SwissCaution and FirstCaution, you can pay your deposit as usual to your rental company and then a few months later (if they agree to accept it), submit your insurance policy from EuroKaution and the landlord should reimburse your deposit. This is what I am going to do.

The EuroKaution website is only in German whereas the others are also offered in EN, but I corresponded with them in English and this is the information they gave. Good luck!

Thanks ! Let us know how it goes with EuroKaution. I also found this https://www.zurich.ch/de/privat/wohn...en/mietkaution by Zurich Insurance. They do have the option of specifying a L permit when you apply but as I won't be in Zurich till May, haven't actually applied. Maybe anyone here have tried them ?

This is great! Thanks for suggesting. I can see you are much more organized about your move than I was!

You are welcome ! Let me know if you have any luck with either of them !
