Thanks
Does this only work with Swisscom or with all who use the Swisscom-net I wonder?
edit: Not available for my house. 3 houses down it is!!
I got the feeling I keep getting "messages" that tell me to move
Still, an intriguing technology I will research further no doubt.
So I have one of these, but dont use it. The idea is great, it uses the 4g connection to bump up your overall speed but for me it had an averse affect - note I think I am something of an unlucky case, I know people who have used it successfully.
In my instance when connected the ping-test speed you can run from the router they give you clearly goes up, I went from about 20-36mbps however I found that it made my services worse - i.e. streaming radio would often go into a buffering state, the TV picture was jerky.
My own thoughts on this are that the stream is sent down both channels (the phone line and the 4g) and - without getting to technical as I have to admit I work in this sort of general area - the packet assembly at the other side is becoming de-sequenced so although something like a ping suggests its all good when you are looking for constant packet streams it's not successful.
As the speed we got before (around 20mbs) is actually fine for us as a household I havent taken it further with swisscom and it sits as a lonely box on the mantlepiece looking forlornly at the flashing lights of activity on my router.
Do you have any idea why the Swisscom website this works in one street here but not two streets further up? Does not seem logic to me (Swisscom handy work perfectly in our street, so that's not the problem).
It does sound kind of fascinating. Any reason why they don't just hand out that 4G box for the window, without the fix-line-connection? Kind of a handy to stick on the window?
I'm thinking about getting a second wingo-handy (max. Fr. 55.00 a month, unlimited access from there) and tell cablecom good-bye. A friend of mine did that but he doesn't watch teli/movies and doesn't upload.
The reason I would have to get a second one is because I need to place it rather far away from me when used for internet (over sensitivity).
Or will 5G reach the sticks ..... in 2056?
