Swisscom Sim Card Problem

Hi everybody. Three years ago now I bought a swisscom sim card to use while I was in Switzerland and I haven't used it since. I am now back in Switzerland and was hoping to use it again, however when I turn my phone on it says 'SIM card registration failed'. Any ideas on how to fix this?...is it easy to fix or do I need to go into one of the stores? Thanks for any help!

Welcolme to the forum. After six months or one year sim cards are switched off if they are not used, part of the terms and conditions. Just go and purchase a new sim card, you will need ID, ie a passport or identity card. Please see a similar thread I need a SIMCARD free or not to expensive, where can I find?

Ok thanks heaps for your reply, it helps me a lot . Do you know if there is any way to reactivate it or can they not do that?

I am not sure with Swisscom, but some companies will resell your number, ie reissue it again as a new number. It has happened to us with an old number my wife used to have. The number was saved on a mobile phone and the children used it to phone their mother. The number had been reissued to a French speaking family !

That's such great help, thanks for the info - very strange they re-issue, but makes sense!

as above if a pay as you go card is not used for 6 months or more thn it is deactivated and then the number is re used. you will need a new sim, but i wouldnt buy one from swisscom... look at one of the cheaper companies such as migros or libara but check out the rates first !

Great will do, thanks heaps!
