Thank you all for the information you provide, I have been lurking on here for some time. My husband is French and we will be moving there in June. I stayed with him in France for three months and came back to get my paperwork in order. I am currently waiting for our livret de famille so that I can request first the long stay visa and then the carte de sejour.
I wanted to know if after I receive the carte de sejour, will I be able to live and work in Switzerland? We would like to settle in Geneva (live and work), but both of us are unclear on how far we are covered (him as a French national, and myself as his recognized spouse). Would we only be able to settle in France? Or settle on the border (perhaps Annemasse?) The information I have found so far is very confusing. I've seen references to various live/work permits for Switzerland, but am not sure how to go about getting more information.
If anyone can assist us, I would really appreciate it. Thank you, -mia- from the expatforum!
Thank You in Advance!
As was posted in the other forum your carte de sejour for France is not relevant for Switzerland.
However if you move to Switzerland with your French spouse you will have the same permit as him including the right to work without restriction.
If you move to the border that's a different kettle of fish and much more complicated for you. He will get a G permit (frontalier) to work (only) in Switzerland. But you will have no permit for Switzerland and no automatic right to work in Switzerland and will need a company to sponsor you which is extremely difficult.
As your husband is a French national, therefore an EU citizen, then settling in Switzerland is perfectly possibly. But it's best to do it with a firm job offer.
