Switzerland vacation

Hi,

Pleas advice places that my family can stay. 6 of us - sibling planning a trip up Switzerland to attend a niece's wedding. and at the same time planning a vacation there.

Plan stay: Interlaken, Lauzerne, Zermatt, Lucerne, and at Zurich.

Please advice.....thank yo in advance

What time of year? How many adults? Kids? Accommodation preference?

here is my only advice

Switzerland is expensive, plan accordingly

If you want to stay in Interlaken in summer, you have to book now, otherwise

you will end up in an expensive place, not worth the money spent.

At least in Zurich and Lucerne there are Alternatives, if it rains.

Where is this place?

Lausanne: we have been told to be nice to new members...

Book cheap places in advance, get travel insurance if necessary. I would spend some time on Booking or something like that.

Blimey, when did EF become a travel agency?

You're welcome

I wouldn't stay in Interlaken itself, its main interest is as a railway hub for getting to the mountains. You would be better staying in one of the mountain villages: Wengen, Grindelwald, Mürren.... all of these are within half an hour or so of Interlaken.

Lauzerne... do you mean Luzern or Lausanne?

Budget?

Duration of the stay?

If you're interested, type "Sanna Lamb Wengen" in google. They have a chalet in Wengen, which you might want to stay in.

Greetings, look here: http://www.lauterbrunnenapartment.com/

while this is a one bedroom apartment, the neighbours's is 2 BR so that would fir the 6 of you nicely. Lauterbrunnen is 20 min up the road and more lovely than Interlaken.

Far from enough info:

How many kids? What ages?

What level of comfort do you need in your hotel?

For how long do you plan to stay?

Singapore is left hand driving, Switzerland is right hand. Personally I would not, under any circumstances, try to drive myself in such a case. That means you'll use public transport; trains and buses are excellent though not cheap (nothing is in Switzerland) (2nd class tickets will do fine, no need at all to pay up for 1st class). I think this offer is among your best bets. Be aware though that some routes are not included; I may be wrong but I think the Jungfrau and Zermatt-Gornergrat are not among included (see scenic tours below).

You may want to combine with a scenic route .

Do you want to go from A to B to C to D, or would you prefer to stay in one place and go from there to A, B, C and D to avoid hauling your luggage around every day? In the latter case you'd best stay in Berne and go to the other places by train, each of the cities/places you mention is 1-1.5h by train away, and the train rides will be a treat themselves.

Seriously, WTF?

I think we can conclude from that URS MAX is a "Mobility Driver".

Yeah so nice that there are 16 posts to do (quite badly) what TripAdvisor's doing.

I think you all need to rethink the entire "being nice" to newbies thing, because that's a perfect example of how ridiculous you are.

Also what a nice time waste, someone ask a extremely generic question on travelling to a foreign country, without any details on what they like, etc... and you are all running with random garbage... Erm I mean useful information. Erm no I really meant random garbage!

Oh well, you're all free to do as you please, it's a public place after all. Feel free to lower the level even further!

PS: Lauzerne means "Bern". It's in between Lausanne and Lucern. Well that's my geographical theory

I'd actually also check on Airbnb, you might find cheaper places to stay than Hotels. Hotels are really expensive, especially in places like Interlaken.

Also if you don't find anything on airbnb, it might be better to look for selfcatering Apartments. Might be difficult in Zurich and so on, but the smaller towns will defo have some.

Make sure you sort out your train tickets in advance, you might be able to find a cheap Family deal.

First, it is written Lucens not Lauzerne.

Second, rent a car and do the Grand Tour of Switzerland.

Done.
