Switzernet Down?

Is Switzernet down? It happens a bit too frequently I feel.

Been using Switzernet for VOIP for a good few months now. Generally happy with them but I have been aware of at least 3 outages since joining.

Been using it for a good one month and i'm not happy with the connection, i am on pre-paid account just to test it and to tell you honestly a lot of my calls are failling.

First i do not have any equipment or adapter, just my smartphone to connect. Second, call quality is crappy using data with swisscom.

I think i will go back using voipbuster which serves me well for the past 3 years.

We are having the same problem since about a month.

My first impression was that it was a problem with the phone but happy to hear that it is not.

Sometimes we see "provider registration failed" and sometimes calling is just not possible.

I use Switzernet with an IP/DECT phone system. Have two lines with Switzernet plus the land line on this system.. If I ever notice an outtage, I send an e-mail to their support - who answer within a fair amount of time with the fix or the reason why the system is down plus an estimated up time.

Yes, it goes down now and then - sometimes it runs stable for up to three or four months (at least I don't realize the system is down). Then it goes in and out (more in than out) for a few weeks.

Just checked - works for me now.

Phone doesn't work

Account website doesn't work

WTF?

Bankrupt????

This is not good

Looks like it. Luckily I just paid on invoice... will terminate the contract just to be sure. I think a few people here had a fair amount of credit...

Actually the latest entry is an "effet supensif" which I believe means its been taken out bankruptcy... but this could be for plenty of reasons.

What now?

- do you have to cancel the contract or is it cancelled anyway because Switzernet is bankrupt?

- anyone know a good alternative?

I would actually prefer skype but can you get that running on a voip phone?

ps. one of the moments that I really miss jrspet on this forum!

I am also a Switzernet user, or better was until today. What is the next best alternative that supplies a CH number with cheap calls to the US (incl. cell phones) and former Soviet countries? Thanks in advance for the input.

Checked the Whois:

Forget Switzernet , now I have moved my number to peoplefone , good quality, work always and if I have a question I can reach them .

Kind of odd, first post... do you have anything to do with peoplefone?

I looked at my contract, this am. Unfortunately I dont have the general terms and conditions which (might) regulate breach of contract (by virtue of them going bust and not providing any communication or service).

I have a business line contract, 24 months 60 days cancellation but not prior to the 24months, which would imply another 18months to run at 8chf per month 144chf.

Just to be on the safe side I shall send a registered letter to them terminating for breach with immediate effect.

If you were happy with the services, wait. They may pull through. If, after a week or so, things still look grim... then cancel.

Crazy enough, one of my two lines is down. The other is still working in and out.

Yes, why not, cant see the harm, although the fact everything is down is not a good sign.

My guess is they fell behind with their main internet service provider, who has basically pulled the plug (metaphorically and now literally.)

For me now service: registration fails, on both the handset and Bria on the mobile.

Normally I would not post this information, even though it is common and free knowledge simply by doing a Whois search.

I tried the mobile number, provider recording said the number is not assigned. The fax number has one digit too many (AFAIK). If someone in Lausanne wants to look further into this name... be my guest

just checked the website and it is back now.
