I have certainly brought Turmeric (Kurkuma) and Tahini in Migros in both Bern & Interlaken, you might just need to go to a bigger store maybe as I doubt that Züri is less cosmopolitan than either of those places!
Is kokosfett the same thing as coconut oil? Because I have seen it being sold in both migros and coop in the oil section. Its in a white tub with a coconut on it. I don't believe it is cold pressed though, and if anyoneknows where I can find cold pressed coconut oil in Zurich, I would be very grateful.
If you are looking for coconut oil for health and beauty and not for cooking purposes, i would suggest the local Reformhaus. It costs about 4x the price but the quality is amazing and tastes great!
The stuff sold in 450g pots as coconut fat in the supermarkets is recommended for use as a replacement for the lard or oil normally use for frying (deep or shallow). Judging by the pictograms on the pot it could also be used for baking. It's cheap, and is a solid white mass.
Really depends what the OP want's coconut oil for; I remember when it was used as sun-tan oil, and definitely came as a liquid, in a bottle.
Thanks for all the replies. The coconut oil i used to get in ireland was an extra virgin cold pressed one. it also came in a plastic jar and under a certain temp its solid, over about 30 C it turns to liquid.
The reformhaus in the HB has virgin coconut oil (2 brands, both very good) and tahini- the tahini is Rapunzel brand (they also make a bunch of nut butters).
Are you near Meierhofplatz? The reformhaus and the bio shop there both have them as well.
The Asian Market in the HB has fresh tumeric root as well.
For cooking I use the Coconut oil for the reformhaus but it is round 20-30chf a jar! But I have now found Jemoli has it cheaper in the 'rest of the world' section.
