TAKE AWAYS in Basel

Anyone recommend any good takeaways around Allschwil? Indian/ Chinese/ Pizza? Thanks!

Ha ha, 62 views so far and no recommendations...that can't be a good sign.....are there none?

The Kebab shop in front of Sam' Pizza in Klein Basel, opposite Manor, has the best Potato wrap in town.

Another favourite spot of mine is Steine Grill at Steinentorstrasse 26( Heuwagge tram stop, right accross the street). Excellent wraps, gyros and pizza.

Consider Esso petrol stations, the coffe is great there and sandviches and bread available.

I belive there are no Take Aways in the german speking part of switzerland which are worth to mention. Also most restaurants serve food which is lower quality than average.

What I find remarkable is how a lot of restaurants offer a take away service... at normal menu prices

China King opposite SBB does take out and its not Soho but its certainly Ok to good Tel 061 272 2828

The kebab shop in the underpass near Heuwage has a real charcoal grill (as opposed to an electric one) and the kebabs cooking on it looked really good although I hadn't been to the pub so felt it was wrong to go in...

BTW, still shocked to see people shooting up openly by the Birsig there!

We ordered pizzas once from this one and it was all right, but nothing special. They have also pasta, risotto and other italian specialities and döner:

I dont live in Basel but Lilys for take away here in Zürich is great, and they have a branch in Basel.

Its so rare for a take away to be a good idea. Once you start eating i's almost always disappointing.

Maybe we should make a new thread which would be easy dinners, faster than a take out, say 20 minutes. Risotto is right there and i am sure WalterG from Zurich will have some top ideas as well

lily's in basel

for take-away, they give you a lot of food for the buck, and it's pretty good. i like the bai kapao.

There's a pizza/kebap place at the bottom of Oberwilstrasse by the tram number 6 terminus.

Pizzas are fine, I can't say I've tried the Kebabs though.

Otherwise near the Kirche stop on the tram number 6 is a new takeaway place, as yet unvisited by me.

Spice INN near dreirosenbrucke is a very good option for Indian Take Away.

Drive to France...

Dominos Pizza and a decent Chinese (in Hegenheim) are 5 minutes drive from the main crossing in Allschwil

There is a take-away Chinese on Hüningerstrasse (opposite Novartis), that's very good value for money. It only does takeaway. The Thai chilli chicken he does is really really tasty.

You can try the same menu at lunch-times in Pflugässlein, off Freiestrasse, by the Thalia entrance.

From here you can order from several restaurants including Lily's:

I second the Chinese in Hegenheim. We eat there & take away the odd time.

Just some info for the Basel people looking for a good restaurant.

Took the family to Ginza , its in Lörrach and I'll be back.

You have choice of all-you-can-eat or a-la-carte. The all you can eat is just brilliant in quality and selection and price.

Took the family of 5 there last night and it was just under 50 EUR.

The Teppenyaki is not the situation where you are sitting directly in front of the chef (what I am used to anyway). You go and select all of you own ingredients, VERY fresh meat & veg, and the chef will whip it up for you & bring it to the table.

Also, they are open for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week.

Also also, the kids got given a little toy on the way out so they are busting to go back (the mcdonalds happy meal affect)

There is also a Domino's at Burgfelderplatz in Basel:
