I was visiting my brother in swiss on a tourism Schengen visa .I was a student and I don’t work .however ,during my visit I did withdraw money from my fx account .however my brother received a mail mentioning that I have pay around 7000 as taxable income from investment
I did pay the whole amount
However ,I was told that I can get back the amount as I don’t reside in swiss nor I do work here
Can someone tell me the process and what is the procedure o get back the money and how long does it take
Why pay anything? You weren’t resident here so owe no Swiss tax, plain and simple. Only people with a Swiss residence permit are subject to Swiss tax, tourists aren’t. Could be a scam. Demand your payment back asap because you don’t owe anything.
I don't know what is going on with the situation entirely, and the marriage/living with brother thing I don't know how to take either, but I also see that there is a language barrier and English is not your first language.
It takes a lot of effort to explain all the details in another language, and you may not want to give your your financial info.
I suggest you call the tax office directly. They are normally very helpful and on the rare occasions (in my case) they have made a mistake they have fixed it as soon as they knew.
A strange post. I regularly draw money from my investment accounts while traveling abroad and am certainly not liable to any tax on it.
Besides, IF there was a tax liability, it would only be due at the end of the current tax year and even then a declaration would have to be made and any payment would be due several months later!
