Tax refund in Rhein Center

Are those shops in Rhein Center responsible for tax refund respectively? For example, can I bring the Newyoker receipt to the service of supermarkt for a green sheet?

Each shop is responsible for it's own refunds, if you have a receipt from Newyorker you'll have to get the money from there.

Hi, the shops give you a special green coloured slip where you need to produce at customs at the border. They will stamp it and the next time you go to the same shop they will refund you the sales tax. I believe the tax free amount is CHF300.- and anything over you pay the swiss tax directly at the border.

The form does not need to be green, it can just be a plain invoice also.

The receipt/form has to contain

your name your Swiss address With the word "Switzerland" spelled out, abbreviations are not accepted. Usually this doesn ́t matter, until you face a moody border guard! the EU-VAT which was paid Since most "receipt slips" from cashpoints do not provide appropriate space, such slips are usually stapled to the mentioned forms.

If the original bill contains all details as above, you ́re already good to go without additional hassle.

To save myself from writing my own address over and over again, I now use a (crappy but enough for this purpose) >>stamp<< .

On exiting the EU you have to provide proof of address (Ausländerausweis or Swiss passport), where name and address should match the one on the slip/form. Customs will then affix their stamp, which confirms the export.

Last but not least you can reclaim your taxes in the outlet where you bought your stuff. The refund is voluntary, some shops refuse to do this, some only through a VAT-refund-agency. In return, I refuse to buy in such shops. (Biggest example in Konstanz: C&A)

Since amazon is a major factor:

amazon.de refunds VAT if a stamped receipt is sent to Amazon.de

Umsatzsteuererstattung

Im Gewerbepark D 55

93059 Regensburg

Deutschland no accompanying letter needed it can take up to a month to be processed make sure amazon actually sold the item to you, not a vendor selling via amazon! in the latter case you would obviously have to contact the respective vendor. Regards,

Christian

Hi! Does anyone know if the stamping of the forms can be done at any time, or only when the customs office is open - ie, looking online it looks like the crossing at Thayngen is only open 8-12 on a Saturday. We are thinking of buying a bike in Germany and would need to get the appropriate paperwork taken care of...I have never done this before and I understand what needs to be done, but the specifics of it are a bit blurry. I don't want to stand at the border and not be able to get the paperwork stamped and have to return M-F between 7 and 5:30 pm. Thanks!

24h check-point, it is said so.

The one I use, close to the Rhein center, seems to be staffed from 8:30 onward. I really don't think you can get forms stamped 24 hours.

Larger customs posts are staffed 24/7, a list is available from the customs!

It seems they don't refund VAT on any car parts, accessories etc...

I want to buy something like this and have it delivered near the border so I can cross the border and pick it up myself.

Anybody has experience with Amazon.de car parts VAT refund?

Thanks

That ́s correct, and it won ́t be refunded. That ́s an EU-regulation and has nothing to do with Amazon.

The official reason (at least that ́s how I understood it, don ́t kill the messenger) is, that it ́s easy to "export" the good, mount it to any car (even an EU-car which happens to be in Switzerland at the time), and re-import it into the EU without even a possibility to check this.

While all goods can theoretically be re-imported into the EU, they would have to be carried on a person, and there is at least a theoretical chance of getting checked/caught.

I remember seeing information leaflets with the same content in Aldi/Konstanz when they sold car parts.

AFAIk. A refund for vehicles and parts therof is only impossible if you import it yourself personally for private purposes. If the store ships it to your foreign non-EU address then you still can not get a refund, but the shop does not have to charge and bill you any VAT. (There is no obligation that a store waives the VAT. And if he does not waive it you cannot get it back latter.)

IHK Berlin:

Nachweis der Steuerfreiheit bei Ausfuhrlieferungen in Drittstaaten

Example bill (Note, this example is missing the origin of the goods. This is important to determine the import duty)

Thank you ChrisNeedsToKnow and aSwissInTheUS!

I first ordered this article from a Swiss online store. After waiting one week, I got an email this morning telling me that my order has been canceled. It seems they have no idea what they have in their inventories

"Der Grund für die Stornierung:

Der Artikel ist zur Zeit nicht lieferbar"

Anyway, now I am trying to order it in Germany, but they don't deliver to CH so I'll have to cross the border myself.
