Taxi costs covered by insurance?

Just realized that I'm not allowed to use public transportation after a minor surgery that I am having. As we do not have a car, it means we will have to take a taxi if we aren't able to find a friend who can take us. (Zurich to Thalwil isn't exactly going to be cheap)

Does anyone know, can I bill the cost of the taxi to our health insurance? (Basic coverage) and if yes, how do I do this?

Thanks!

Hahaha.

Is a taxi really less of an issue than first class on the train & a taxi from the station if it's far? When I was younger I drove to the hospital with a burst appendix, the hospital did not believe that was possible so waited a week to operate so I ended up with peritonitis.

Actually, you should send receipts to IV. I'm not sure how to contact them in Zurich KT, but this is who paid for my wig when I had chemo. I also had forms from them to report transportation costs. We never did the forms, I was only 11km from the hospital.

IV is, roughly speaking, disability insurance. I'm sorry I don't have direct links for you, but if you search for IV, you might find something.

I've never tried to claim transport on my health insurance.....

But....

My accident insurance paid my train tickets to my out patient appointments, no questions asked (maybe because the amount I'd racked up in helicopters/ambulances/hospitals etc a train ticket or two made no difference )

You probably have a Spitex in Thalwil who will be able to let you have a voluntary driver for your needs. Ask them. This is something I do and have done for 4 years now, most towns have this. There may be a set charge or you pay (if Thalwil is the same) about 70 Rappen per kilometre.

Here are links to IV - this one links you to forms, etc. I remember calling them when I lived in Bern. I'm assuming you have an AHV number.

Do what I did, use a motorcycle!
