Taxidermy Importation Question

So, I have inherited a collection of dead insects and other various dead items, and was considering importing them, because I know a dealer interested in purchasing the macabre. Question is, is it permitted? Nothing ivory based, and all coming from the states. Anyone, have any vast idea of if it is permitted or who I could talk to, to ask what I would need to do to pass customs?

These are all mounted and incased.

Depends if they are protected species.

Ok, when I know exactly what they are, then I can use that info. It's is quite possible some of them are extinct.

When I say that, they are old. So possibly died, mounted, before that status occurred. I just have no idea how to prove that.

I find that the people at the federal agencies are quite good at responding via email to questions.

Don't know if either if these help.

I know that in the UK there are restrictions on the sale of butterflies and such like but I have no idea about importing your own private collection.

I was going to recommend a good taxidermist, but I couldn't find one. You know what they say... taxidermy is a dying art.
