Is it only me or do any of you guys also get annoyed by the loud teens hanging out in public transportation areas drinking alcohol and smoking weed? I'm only 30 but feel like an old man getting annoyed by the youth.
If you can solve the problem of bored youth hanging around stations you will be a very rich man. Where else can they go?
I don't particularly like it, but I can't think of anywhere else they could go (friends house? -- not in mine !! etc) and generally they are just loud. If you interact with them some of them can be quite nice.
There's a regular crowd, not just teens though, who hang out in front of Fribourg station, most of whom are harmless. However, there are some who are obviously drunk and/or stoned and have been know to become violent, disruptive and intimidating. More than once I've seen one or more carted off by the local busies.
What's most annoying is that they hang out in large groups RIGHT IN FRON OF THE FRIGGING DOORS. So I tend to give the door an extra hard shove when I need to get through.
Agreed. I often come back from Winterthur around 23:30 on a Friday night and there are several hundred partying kids at the station milling about, which is a different story than just a few teens hanging around.
I think you'll find they have found something to do
Doesn't sound too bad, no different to what I pretty much used to do when I was a teenager. Bored, want to be out from the house, friends dont yet have a house to go to and neither do you, drinking cheap alcohol and sampling recreational substances in a park or at a bus stop somewhere
As long as they are not being threatening, I dont see an issue. The beer might make them abusive, but just encourage them to keep toking on the cone and they'll be all nice.
I agree, they can be pretty annoying. I have a bunch of them hanging out at a playground right outside my windows till fairly late in the evening, regularly waking my 2 year old in the process. They're usually gone by 10pm though, so I never had the pleasure of calling the cops on them right on the dot for disturbing the peace.
Yes, when I was a kid we never hung around anywhere. The world has completely changed for the worse. Don't they have graffiti and cow-tipping to do?????
I tried to go back and reminisce on my youth with a bit of cow tipping when i moved here. Jeez, what a mistake that was. Bloody bell woke up half the village.
I slightly remember in one city, can't recount the exact details, but I do recall in order to get rid of the teenagers they played loud classical music! The teens hated it!...LOL They stopped congregating in that area too.
Must say we congregated in the station's waiting room in the 60s- around the fire. Us and the village's 'clodo' (le Paulet - the tramp who lived in an old banger by the river).
In the end, the CFF closed the waiting room to get rid of us and our snogging competitions and Gauloises Happy days
Every teenager needs a band. I keep tellin' all kids I teach.
Anyways, it's not so easy..there aren't so many places to be cool, everything costs cash and most kids don't really have it. Sports, music and hobbies are acquired tastes, if you have kids, better start doing those things yourself and show them it's cool to invest yourself into stuff that makes you better. Then you can show up and nag about the low quality youfs who are bored.
I just been to a conference organized by world trade union headquarters, about teen involvement and engagement. What was actually shocking were local authorities, who are waiting for kids to come up with something. Now, in the era of instant anything in your room, where you don't have to move from your bed and pc in order to be in touch with likeminded souls, there is pretty much zero interest in being active in the community. Community should reach out to them. I know there are centers for hem, etc. but it does not seem enough. I just feel since ze youfs doesn't bring immediate profit, it is a bit forgotten. If community doesn't nudge, there aren't bands around, scouts or church activities, it should be parents to nudge. Eventhough for teens it's pretty much the last source of inspiration, innit. You can help, though, get them instruments, help out building practice place, do funky sports with them, organize dance camps, chess..sci/fi...wait, that's probably no longer in
Kids told me today, suspenders and bowties are in, hahah, jayyysus.
