Temporary accommodation in Zurich

Hi everyone,

Hope that you are all keeping safe and well. I am relocating to Zurich on the 4th Jan 2021 and I am looking for temporary accommodation until the 1st Feb 2021. Where would be the best place to look for month long temporary accommodation that is pet friendly? My budget is 2,000 CHF for the 4 weeks. Thank you all in advance for your help!

As further information, with how good public transport is in Zurich I am not too concerned about the location but would like to remain close to the centre of Zurich. Main criteria is that I have a separate bedroom and a desk to work on during my quarantine. Thank you again!

Well, public transport is fine here in switzerland except the night service , which is not running because of the corona virus.

Because you got a pet, i would recommend airbnb:

Alternatively look for a serviced apartment

Hello, and welcome to the forum, and soon to Switerzland.

https://www.ums.ch/welcome/ is another.

In any case, wherever you go, be very sure to read the rules. This for your own sake, and for that of your pet.

It is common in Switzerland that rental properties do not allow dogs (other than guide dogs) and cats. Some do, of course, but it ought not be assumed that it's allowed. In some cases, you may need to obtain permission in writing.

Smaller animals such as hamsters and guinea pigs, or fish, are generally acceptable and do not need permission.

We just did it as a family and only AirBnB had big enough flat that also took pet and did not cost a fortune so would also recommend that.

You need to check that AirBnB is acceptable as an accommodation address for the cantonal migration office. Some cantons don’t accept them.

A good friend was looking for temporary accommodation as she and her husband moved out of their existing flat last week but their new flat will not be available until May 1 (They already signed the lease). They had hoped to find a temporary accommodation through AirBnB but she said that the Zurich Cantonal authorities would not recognize an AirBnB address for registration purposes.

I was here working without a proper address for more than a month and no-one had any issue with it. Maybe it depends where you come from. For the permit I think I got something like a confirmation of issuance of permit in principle. That was also sufficient to open a bank account.

there is also a facebook group with tons of adverts in it (both permanent and temp). it s called Housing in Zurich.

I think it is contingent upon which canton you plan to reside as Medea referenced

have serviced apartments centrally located under 2000
