Tesla EV discussion

I wrote often not every time
Take Bellikon to Künten
CHF 15 with Uber in four minutes, and CHF 7 with public transport takes 40 minutes.

I was considering switching to EV but after careful considerations I came to the conclusion that I’d rather move to Texas…

Yes, uber and all the companies after that.

The curious thing is that at some point uber tried to become a monopoly while automated driving technology was being developed. They failed at it and are trying to become profitable instead.

Ad placement is a sad reality. The nightmare of the chatty taxi driver would continue into the future

But, there’s one more lesson from uber: surge pricing. What Roxi mentioned as jumping the queue. The internal costs can be low, but if a lot of people want a ride at the same time…this info become very valuable.

Don’t try to put words into my mouth that I never remotely said. Just pointing out the complete idiocy of your position on oil. Or do you claim 50K is actually more than 5 million?

Tesla (TSLA) global third-quarter deliveries increased 6% compared to a year ago, hitting the third best quarterly total ever, as the EV giant saw vehicle unit sales return to growth for the first time in 2024.
TSLA shares dropped Wednesday but pared losses.

The total marks a 6% jump compared to last year versus BVD sales increase of 12%, this could be the first year that Tesla does not increase sales year on year.

Investors are pinning their hopes on Tesla’s planned Robotaxi announcement this month but Tesla is late into the market.

60 Million Miles And Counting: Robotaxis Shift Into High Gear

As mentioned, how noble you wish to keep your Germany clean at the expense of countries like Serbia. Dejavu. 1918 and 1945. and we both know how it ended.

Ahead of a debate on lithium mining in the Serbian Parliament next week, European Greens stand in solidarity with the tens of thousands of people in Serbia who protested in fifty cities across the country this summer against the decision of the Serbian authorities to allow the multinational mining company Rio Tinto to mine for lithium in the Jadar valley.

The Jadar valley is a densely populated rural area in Western Serbia, with fertile agricultural land and significant reserves of underground drinkable water that are highly valuable for the region.

In 2017, the British-Australian mining multinational Rio Tinto signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Serbia in respect to the implementation of the Jadar Project. In 2021, the citizens of Serbia became aware of the dangers of the project demanding the rejection of the project as well as the withdrawal of amendments to the Expropriation and Referendum Laws fearing that adoption of these laws would ease the implementation of the project.

The people of Serbia protested in massive numbers, blocked highways, and successfully halted the project in 2022. But after a series of elections in 2022-2024, Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić (SNS, affiliated to the European People’s Party) reintroduced the project again in July 2024 without the needed respect for democratic standards and public involvement.

The benefits of the current lithium extraction project in Serbia will go to the British-Australian multinational company Rio Tinto, leaving immeasurable damage to the environment and the local population. Next week, the Serbian National Parliament will have an extraordinary session on lithium-mining, following a request of the opposition.

European Green Party co-chair Thomas Waitz said: “Let’s not repeat the errors of the past, when the rush for critical materials for energy led to pollution and disruption of societies. Genuine consultations must be held, and processes put in place to ensure accountability before any operations are even considered. The current Memorandum of Understanding between EU and Serbia does not legally ensure any of these standards. The European Union must first assure that there is a legal framework in Serbia that allows for people to hold Rio Tinto and the Serbian government to account. Especially since this year’s new [Due Diligence Directive] which requires firms, including non-EU companies, to prevent, end or mitigate their adverse impact on human rights and the environment. ”

The [European Greens] consistently urge the EU to accelerate its transition to a circular economy to reduce our reliance on new raw materials, ensuring that its need for resources does not deepen existing global inequalities. To avoid an extractive approach, the EU must support resource-rich countries, enabling them to extract, process, and recycle materials according to the same conditions as within the EU, and put the rights of communities, nature, and biodiversity at the centre of all projects. We also strongly condemn the violence, detentions and intimidation of activists who oppose lithium mining.

Elon Musk celebrates winning lawsuit over Tesla self-driving claims with embarrassing defense

Let’s be clear on what Musk is celebrating here: he is celebrating a judge siding with his lawyers, who argued that his misleading statements regarding Tesla’s self-driving effort were simple “corporate puffery” and not “actionable material misrepresentations.”

So the judge agreed Elon’s self driving promises were all lies

Well….

Despite all the nay-sayers and to great dismay (and sometimes financial pain) of short sellers, Tesla does deliver, eventually.

I have HW3, so I doubt the software will ever touch my Model 3.

Cybercab - a move so bold that it will either bankrupt Tesla or every taxi business in the world. Cybercab/Robotaxi is still a long way off and will be in Texas and California in 2 years, Musk says.

The EU is trying to block China’s EVs with high tariffs. I imagine the move to driverless taxis and private cars will meet with massive EU red tape.

However the long term implications of driverless cars with no steering wheel or pedals is set to disrupt public transport as well as private over the next 15 years.

If all else fails Tesla can stick a steering wheel and pedals on the new small Cybercab and sell it as the budget Tesla Model 2…

Elon started talking about Full Self-Driving (FSD) almost ten years ago, and in recent years, it has always been promised “next year.”
The much-heralded Robotaxi event, now Cybercab, announced FSD “next year” again and no firm date for the Robotaxi only “before 2027.”

Companies like Waymo and Cruise have racked up millions of miles with their driverless taxis, so in a couple of years or more, the new Cybercab will be facing mature competition and will need some unique sales features to gain market share. Today, Tesla does not offer any special deals for corporate bulk buys, and since only corporations not private individuals will buy taxis, Tesla will likely have to rethink its policy.

Elon’s antics on Twitter are damaging both his own reputation and in turn Tesla’s which is already hitting sales.

Tesla is an amazing, visionary company. It is a marvel that has changed the industry. Its founder is an asshole. These are two separate things.

On topic, I am of the “older” generation where I’d like my driver, pilot, etc. to have “skin in the game” otherwise I PERCEIVE it as less secure for me.

“My Germany”? I’m not German nor do I live there. Try again.

He managed to attract brilliant minds from everywhere but he also let them down. Elon Musk didn’t make Tesla with his bare hands; he was also born in wealth and benefited from his family’s resources. Musk’s cult fans are kind of cute…

I thought his vision was to repurpose the millions of Model 3 and Ys that come off lease as robotaxis since they already have the guts and hardware for self-driving.

You need HW4. Available in Model 3 Highland and Model Y since sometime in early Summer this year.

Waymo only works on pre-mapped streets.

Compared to Tesla whose Full Self-Driving is not permitted on any streets.
Tesla’s share price opened almost 10% down this morning, now recovering slightly.

no need for me to try anything. you try go mining lithium outside your whatever country and you will face the destiny of Germans in 1918 and 1945.

Jugoslavia is dead, get over it. Good riddance.
