Thalwil / Horgen area...

I am very excited that hopefully in a month or so I will be moving to Zurich my husband and I have already been using English forum for the last couple of years and we are looking forward to joining in on some of the events going on in the Zurich area

I am looking for flats to rent on homegate, etc.... the Horgen area......

We are looking for somewhere south of Zurich HB on the left side of the lake no further than a 20 min train journey into HB.

My question is.... are there good, bad, better areas we should be looking at? Thalwil seems a gd choice for having a train link to Luzern and Landquart / Chur (for skiing ) Any tips or suggestions that anyone can think of would be most welcome.

I like greenish areas and don't mind being a little out of the city - but it is nice to have the quick transport links to get in for work and meeting upwith friends. Also cant be too expensive... I want everything!

Thanks in advance, from ..... (id to be revealed once 4 weeks notice handed in...)

Hello and Welcome!

I moved here in Novemeber to be with my husband, along with our two kiddies.

It took us a long time to find a rental property here, this house was the 13th! We looked in lots of areas. At the moment we are renting in Adliswil, which has its good and bad points! Its very easy for my hubby to commute to Zurich and for us to visit surrounding areas. Those areas you are looking at are lovely.

Good luck with your move!

I live in Horgen and I think its gorgeous. only 20minutes into Zurich, and you have the lake on one side.. and 15minutes up the hill and you are in the countryside. shops are fine.. there are a few bars (could be better) and some nice restaurants. and its quiet without being boring

My only tip would be to choose your flat carefully on that side of the lake as large parts of it are often in the shade, especially in winter, as i write this the sun is streaming through my window, but as look over the lake (towards the left side) its looks to be in the shade. Something to bear in mind if you are not going to work!
