The ban on car racing in Switzerland ends on July 1 2026

Wait a min…there’s no permanent tracks. Roads are closed temporaly for hillclimb races and the EV races :frowning:

On the other hand, engineers are needed to build a permanent track

The Federal Council is also bringing into force the revised Road Traffic Act, which lifts the ban on motor racing on circuits in Switzerland. However, the return of these sporting events will be regulated: the cantons, which will issue the permits, will ensure that the events comply with, among other things, safety standards and environmental protection requirements.

Tangentially, it also became legal to drive a truck during nights and Sunday provided perishable goods or farm animals are transported. Great news, transported animals will not be stuck in traffic if moved at midnight. I’m just wondering if trucks can deliver food to Migros and Coop at 3AM.

So the only hurdle now is to permit a race track anywhere in Switzerland.

Still, a boy can dream that we don’t have to migrate all over Europe to safely exercise our little cars.

Yes :smiling_face_with_tear:

Meanwhile, I’ll keep going to hillclimbs as spectator, next one in 2 weeks. It’s historic vehicles, I wonder what will be on the road that day:

Until then, there’s always the A96–We go up there regularly. Hardly any traffic, and nice straightaways.

Don’t they do tunnel and roadwork overnight these days?

Any kid can have one

Those works are scheduled, unlike a traffic accident that leaves cows trapped in a metal box under the Sun.

and then there’s Inner Appenzell, where the cows roam at night! Apparently some went walkabout at 2 a.m. the other morning and had to be collected by the police and the owner.

Is that called Beef StrollingOff?
